this guitar seems quite strange to me: - AF200s had spruce tops. this one seems maple. - the sunburst is not smooth, seems more AF120-type. - a control knob near the cutaway?!? - the headstock "v" cut is very sharp and the binding is different from the one i had (triple vs. double); no flower ornament (see the photo of my 1991 AS200 headstock). - the neck binding is single. - no serial number... it would be nice to see the label inside.

The guitar in the auction is NOT an AF200, which can sell in the $1000-1500.00 range. It is a heavily modded AF120 (as Petruz suspected). I can't imagine it being worth more than $400-500.00...as a player. Here's a picture of the AF120 from the 1996 catalog. Except for the mods, it's an exact match:

I Asked a few questions about this one as I thought that it maybe an AF120. As the tail piece is consistent with that model, also the rosewood fret board although I am aware that there were some AF200 that used rosewood. Apparently there is no sticker inside but the previous owner believed the Serial Was H123615. Terada 91 feb right? but as I say no sticker or headstock number, Oh and the control on the cutaway is a master volume. I saw an AF120 go for £325 in good condition all original so I suspect that with the mods and no sticker or decals that its not quite worth the asking price. |
