I just got a hold of one of these from a local Guitar Center.. It's dated may of 1977. Great condition. I'm surprised at how much more output the pups (super 70s) have compared to my 1973-74 model 2355 (spruce top). However, it seems like my 2355 has a little more depth and clarity. Maybe these pups are not super 70s?? I think I prefer the sound of the 2355... However, I like the chunkier neck of the 2616... I'm tring to decide which one's a keeper.... I've had my 2355 for over 10 years. I ultimately want an Ibanez L-5 of course. I just don't need two es-175 copies... really |

Aroee: Wow, what a predicament to be in! I'm surprised that a local GC ended up with such a cool Ibanez. Are you saying that you are definitely going to sell one or the other? Lots of members here would love to have either one. |

Both of mine have tune-o-matic bridges and on the 2616 the adjustment screws are facing the tailpiece (which I find rather akward). Anyhow, I'm still adjusting neck and bridge and it's all slowly sliding into place. The previous owner had raised the bridge so high that it had caused the thumbwheel posts to be all bent out of shape. Bridge is sort of 'funky' and is not perfectly in contact with the top as it should.. I'll let you guys know if I sell ;) |
