Ace: Hmmm, an interesting equation. Monetary-wise they are in the same ballpark. Collectible-wise the '79 doubleneck might trump the very popular GB10 player vote. I'll bet that there were a lot more '82 GB10s produced than '79 2640s. Of course, a jazz player would have no problem answering the question. Which side of the equation are you? The 2640? |

My rational half says GB-10 but my heart says 2640. I don't know. Ace |

Ace: Are you considering trading your 2640 for a GB10, or vice versa? If so, and you need a quality jazz box, then go for it. However, if you are only trying to add to your collection, then I would keep the 2640 and wait for the money to buy a GB10. The chances of finding another GB10 are a lot better than ever getting another 2640. Over the long haul, I feel the 2640's value will outpace the GB10's. Look what's happening to all the vine guitars, they are accelerating much more quickly than in previous years. Of course, I could be wrong. |

The GB10 is not "on the market". It belongs to a good friend of mine who happens to like my 2640 very much. Ace There's a GB10 on eBay right now: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7319925480&rd=1&sspagename=ST RK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 |
