"bought in the early 80's, and maybe from japan". ok, buy it now or not...? I dit it. now it is here. it's korean. hm, ok. the seller wrote "...maybe...japan". BUT: label says YAS50WR and the holy sn is Y009042. so, if I understood the serialnumbers IT IS FROM 1990...uh! am I right? I paid 250€ (USD 323,88) without case. I thougt it's a good price for an early 80's. there is no sign at the back of the humbuckers. the neck is glued. it has a very nice grain. it has the small headstock. the strap pin is not behind the neck, but above on the "mickeymouse ear". according to the serial: is it really 1990? thank you for your answers, Heidi Johns Username: Johns Registered: 02-2001 Posted on Sunday, May 01, 2005 - 11:20 pm:    Heidi: According to Jim Donahue: "Y is actually yoojin Korean Factory". I have seen AC50s with this type of serial number, but no AS50s. These were from 1990 and 1991. They do have the small headstock. So, this all sounds like the right period. Can you upload pictures of this or give us the ebay link? I would keep it and give it a chance. I don't think you'll lose much if you decide to sell it at a later date. The WR color abbreviation also appears to be a Korean trait, as I've seen it on a '91 AC50 which was definitely Korean made. (However, I have not seen these Korean made models in any US catalogs.) Not sure what WS stands for. Maybe Wine Red? Acetan: Can you provide anymore info on these Korean models? I can't find any catalogs with these AC and AS models in them. I strongly believe they are so-called "generic Far-East" picups, meaning that thy are mass-produced quite ordinary average pickups..Not to be ignored but in no way as good as eg. Japanese Super58 or similar. But I suggest you try and play the guitar, before making any decisions.. I was a guitar tech/guitar repairman specializing in the electronics in the good ol´70´s and 80´s and still do some repairs and hot-roddind as a hobby.. To be honest, it was my "road to the fascinating world of Ibanezes" when I found out that someone was putting tri-sounds on guitars in the production stage...
