Im thinking on getting my first hollow body guitar and after test some Epiphones and other guitars..i discover (and tested it) the PM20. Is a korean Made model. I really liked it a lot. Sweet tone, and nice acoustic sound.

What you think about it? Its a good guitar?

Marinotomas:

Welcome to the forum! Your English seems fine, to me.

I can't say anything about the PM models because I've never played one. I've looked at them enviously for many years. So, I'll be interested to hear what other forum members will have to say about them.

I have a PM20! I like it.
I also played a PM100 at a local music store, honestly PM100 is better than PM20 in terms of craftmanship and quality of the prestige neck.
But I still like PM20 because of its traditional construction. PM100 is a double cutway archtop.
I'm sure easy acsess of higher position has some advantageous, but it sacrifice some acoustics.
I undersood that PM guitars are laminated maple top, therefore it is not as sensitive as spruce tops, but I still prefer non double cutway.
Anyway, PM20 has very thin neck as archtop guitar( because of non solid wood neck I think ) and midiun frets, might be midium small? I prefer jumbo frets! especially with the thin neck like this. I think certain Jazz styles have benefits with jumbo frets, but it is personal taste.
I'm thinking to re-fret when I have money.
A Super 58 pick up, I am thinking to try out other pick up for a experiment. Not I don't like the sound, I like the sound, I just want even better. Also, assuming that the Super 58 isn't same as the Super 58 of the ealry 80's. Still sound good though!!!
Seymour ducan suggests alnico II pro(more articulation) or
seth lover( more warm) for the PM20 due to the specification of PM20(plywood,16inch archtop,a little thiner body than traditional size...)
overall, I think it could be your work force eventough it is Korian Made!!!
Remember PM100 is better in ditails but PM20 has also has somthing good things about it!
I use PM20 for a big band and some chart require some effects, and without changing the guitar, I can get sound I need. For the big band I play, I use PM20 for both Freddie Green staff and comtemporary staff. It has the advantageous of ply-wood(sound good with amplification and can be able to use louder volume and some effects!)
