I picked up a 1983 AM255 a few months back for $30 Canadian!!!! Thats right $30, its not a typo. It has its share of small dings and scratches but it plays and sounds amazing! I replaced the original bridge pickup with a late 1960's Gibson PAT sticker pickup and it now sounds amazing!!! The original was a bit thin in my opinion. I thought I would start a post where we could post pictures of our am200 series guitars. I'm also looking an AM205 if any one is selling. I have a 2000 American Deluxe Fender Stratocaster I could trade or I have cash. Enough talk...Lets see some pictures. |

Cool site! I never knew it existed. You can use the pictures if you like. I never use the trem, And when I break a string everything goes out of tune. I cant have that happen live so I'm looking for an am205 which is basically the same guitar with no trem. I'm really glad I stumbled appon this guitar when I did. Its now my favorite guitar! So I need a non trem version and then I'll be set. |

Question for forum members: I have read on this forum that the only difference between the AM205 and the AM255 is the addition of the tremolo bar on the 255. So, in light of this, question: "Did the AM255 ever come with a pick guard as in the above '82 AM205?" I have never heard of, or seen a picture of, an AM255 with a pick guard. Has anyone? |

You are right, AM255's don't come with pick-guards. Ace |

I finaly found a good AM205!!!! I just picked it up today. Its a 1986 Super Edition. Does any one know what the differance between a regular AM205 and a super edition is? As far as I can tell its just the "super edition" inlay on the fretboard. I'll post some pictures once I've taken them. I think I got a good price, $800 USD is much better than the over $2500 which some other board members are asking for their super edition am205 guitars. |

Unfortunatly most of the gold on the pickups has worn off, Plus the lighting makes it look more silver than gold in the pictures. |
