For anyone here who has ordered a guitar from Japan - What sort of taxes/duties do you have to pay? I've been corresponding with a couple of Japanese retailers, and they both say "we have no idea what duties you should pay", which I find hard to believe since they sell to US customers all the time - is this some sort of code for "we'll declare whatever you want us to" or something? Are the duties in 10% range? 30%? etc? Any help would be great. |

I have limited experience with only one guitar purchase from Japan but it was absolutely painless through some sort of Japanese special airmail arrangement. The guitar arrived at my doorstep in three days with no duty. |

I have similiar experience as Acetan's - I bought a Burny Les Paul from someone on eBay and he Air Mail'ed it to me and I paid NO DUTIES... If I remember correctly the box even stated USED GUITAR on it. He used EMS and it got here in 5 days. Big |
