This AM300 has passed through the hands of several ICW members. It is a great guitar, but I found it was always lacking a little something. And obviously, so did the other previous owners who passed it on. And I was thinking to myself, what could bring out the character of this guitar. The sound is a little thin and burpy sounding. How about a little V2 testosterone injection? I had a set of black V2s, but they were the 2 screw type. So Acetan kindly sent me a set of older 3 screw creme V2s. The result is great visually, I really like the creme on creme - very hotrod, yet stock looking. I also switched around 3 of the saddles, correcting a nagging intonation problem. And the sound? It is an improvement. Much thicker and hotter, but still a little "fizzy" using the bridge with distortion. Missing some harmonic overtones, but has some of that 335 airy Scofield crunch. Very classic rock, in a laid back kind of way. The neck is fuller, but a little undefined. In summary, I think I'm on the right track. Maybe something more modern from DiMarzio, with more harmonics and clarity.

I raised the pups on my AM300 to reduce the overlap and the chord definition has improved a lot. Something worth trying. Just noticed something, does your 300 say "Artstar" under the Ibanez logo? Ace
