string 3 fret1 G# when i hold this pitch (also other strings at same pitch) there is a loud howl even at very low room volume.Switching pickups doesnt help, also raising / lowering pickups or headstock don't do anything. It must be the body resonating at this pitch. What could be diffrent with this guitar than other peoples wich dont have feedback? when i hold my hand over the top hole the howl stops or diminishes. I also tried filling one hole with an inflated balloon and that seems to take away alot of the problem. |

My GB had hot spot too, though I can't remember which note set it off. Have you tried adjusting the tailpiece? Though I had never fiddled with the GB tailpiece, I believe it adjusts the amount of pressure placed on the guitar's top by changing the angle of the strings coming off of the saddle. Plugging the f-holes and/or stuffing the body will also reduce feedback and howl. I think I'd try other adjustments first. |

Yes i tried adjusting the tailpiece , but no change at all.The balloon worked best, but probably will lose air fast,i'll try a test with an rubber inner tube of a bicycle or so,being black and holding air a long time and cheap. |

Ddubbuzz, does this happen in any room you are set up in? If the room is not sound absorbing it could be part of the reason why its howling. |

In a smaller room on a boogie tube amp clean channel, in a bigger room with an AER ss amp. same result, G# howling when i hold the note in a chord or single note. |

Sounds like you've got a really lively top on your GB10. Another 'theory' is that your guitar's wood is responding/reacting to certain frequencies. Even though it is spruce ply, couldn't the top could still react like a 'tap tuned' solid wood instrument? Seems logical to me, but I'm not a luthier. Maybe someone with more technical knowledge can weigh in on the subject. By the way, I get feedback at G flat if played too loudly through my Mesa Mark IV! |

Your problem sounds familiar to me. I had the same symptoms cured by replacing a pre-amp valve in my amplifier. Could not believe it would work when I read it here (I think) somewhere; but it did do the trick for me..... Can you try your guitar on a transistor amp? |

@Lespaul i already did that with the same result,i suspect a resonating body myself. Stuffing the holes seems like the best solution as for the rest this guitar sounds superb.I'll have to do some more tests. |
