I'm sure this is on here somewhere, but i'm new so I'll ask and you can either answer or point me somewhere. I'm looking to get an AS73. I have recently seen some AS120s that look to be about the same thing. Can you please tell me what the difference might be. I have also seen an AF120 and it looks exactly like the AS120 is it smaller? If you feel like it, you can throw int he AS80 into the discussion. All I can see other than finish and hardward (gold vs chrome) there is no difference, unless it's pickups. Thanks for the help. BTW, I need to spend less than 400. |

Hi Houvin, I have an AS120 and found some differences through the following sites. AS73: China made, mahogany neck, unknown PU AS120: Korea made, maple neck, Super-58 humbucker Of cource my AS120 is pretty one, I love it. http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Ibanez/AS73-1.html http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Ibanez/AS120_Artstar-01.html |

The main difference is the AS73 and AS83 are part of the Artcore line, which is made in China, and the AS80 and AS120, which are no longer made, were part of the Artstar line, which was made in Korea. The AS83, and the AS120 have fancier finish, including block inlays. Aside from the finish differences, the AS80 and AS120 share the same construction. I had an AS80, which was a fine guitar. My teacher has an AS73, and he seems to think the hardware is cheap. To me the AS73 is quite nice for what it is. Chinese labor costs are MUCH lower than Korean labor, so you get a lot of guitar with the Artcore series. The AF120 is a completely different guitar. It is fully hollow, and has a single cutaway. AS guitars are semi-hollow, and have double cutaways. -Sven |

I agree that some artcore is nice. They are not bad at all. The are just not as good as high end Ibanez models. Some artcore made me think to get it. If I get one,I will modify everything that I feel cheep or not good. It will become more expensive guitar, then why not to buy good guitar from the beginning. PS Artcore guitars are still nice guitars. You don't have to spend tons of money to get decent guitar, if you don't have better guitar. |

Here's a cherry AS120. $400 BIN seems pretty reasonable: http://www.qksrv.net/click-1802666-10381315?loc=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI .dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D7405975665 |
