After some debate with myself and different sellers I picked up an '83 AM50. Not mint or near but in very good condition. All stock parts. After tightening a vol pot and putting on a fresh set of 11's, I plugged into my 62 Super. Started out on the bridge pup and was more then pleased. Not spectacular but better than I expected. Good definition, airy, slightly compressed. It was the neck pup that stood me still. The tone came alive in the neck position. Organic, compressed in a good way. My 73 Tele has never sounded this good through the Super's pair of 10's. I know 2/10 amps and humbuckers are a good match but Geeez this was sweet. Never thought I was a guitar snob but when I finally could afford "not" to have to buy Japanese I never thought I would again. Uh uh. I'm back. Thanks to this site and the people who come here.

Of all the guitars I have bought and sold over the years, the one I regret selling most was an AM50 in 1987. I sure wish I had that guitar, especially considering what they go for now.

Congratluations! Hope you will get years of enjoyment out of your "new" axe.

Thanks for posing pics. She's a beauty. Makes me regret even more selling my AM50. :-)
