Damn, that's tempting! These don't come up often at all, and the price is not so bad.

I was kind of debating if this was a good buy as I
Like the blonde finish.

What are your thoughts Ace?

Six, I can only recall seeing 3 of these on ebay as long as I have been watching it. They have sold for around $1000 in the past, and that was before prices for semi-hollows took a jump. You couldn't go wrong with this one. In construction, they are pretty much the same as an AM70, but with a blonde figured maple finish and super 58s. There were very few made, and they never appeared in a US catalog. I believe they were a Europe only model, as nearly every one has turned up there.

Even though I prefer AM's with mahogany construction, I am tempted big time by this one. I posted the link hoping someone will buy it and I don't have to toss and turn for a whole week. Please, somebody, anybody.

Cheers Ace/Sven

What about the wrap over bridge. Unusual for a semi of this type. How different a tone are we talking from a regular semi set up say like a AS200 or 335?

AM70s have the same bridge but different pickups. My concern is not the bridge as my AM205 and 255 both have tone galore albeit the different bridges used. It is the maple construction that I'm not sure about as I was not happy with how my maple AM50 sounded.

Ace,

I have put a Duncan Custom Custom in my SC420, and it did a wonderful job taming the brightness. This pickup in the bridge produces a laid back singing Larry Carlton sound. It just occurred to me that this could be a perfect bridge PU for a bright semi, like the AM50.

Falcon, there was no pickguard on the AM66.

Six, I'm not a big fan of the Schaller style bridge on this guitar. But I've had great results with the TonePros wraparound bridge. I believe that this bridge is the best fixed bridge option available. The tone, definition and sustain are stellar. It should be an easy retrofit if the studs are spaced the same.

Me neither Funkle.

I have a spare bar wrap over that came off my Jeff Beck Lester (have a vintage one on that at the moment). I wonder if it would fit the AM66 and also whether the intonation would sit right with a regular wrap over bridge.

Any ideas?

The TonePros has intonable saddles and locking studs.

I know, isn't that silly? Everyone was betting it would not go up that much in price.
