Guys: The link provided is for an auction for a nice 1978 2630 with a BIN of $860.00. Is this the wrong item number? |

John, methinks it be de right one...$860 is a great price for a 2630-if your considering a as200, buy this guitar ! (note the killer flame, edge input, and tastefully placed selector switch..not to mention original case...this is a very good buy !)I'd take a stab at it myself if I didn't already own a couple of these ! |

Sorry guys - but to me this IS an AS200 with the old name. And you gotta admit it's a beaut !! I woke and looked on eBay before coming here and am amazed it's still up for sale. The seller sure priced it to move. And if I didn't have a whole lot of other things that need tending to I'd drive to pick it up too... Between this one and that '78 GB10N that was up earlier in the day it's an Ibanez Deal Week in the making... |

Dave_g, Forgive me I am NOT debating the model number with anyone... I was at work (and intermittenly busy) when I saw it - debated with myself why I had to be real good TWICE in one day AND NOT BUY IT (or the blonde 78 GB10) and then said to myself "self, tell the fellas on ICW" (I watch to much Emeril). In my zeal to post the msg here I screwed up and said AS400 not AS200. And it's not an AS200, but to a guy that's half blind like me it sure looks a lot like an AS200. So the differences are the input jack is on the side (I think that is smarter), the location of the pickup selector switch and some other minor cosmetic details. RIGHT ?? Whatever it is what a deal... what a beauty. It's killing me... Oh I hope I find the right archtop in late November (I was eyeing a real nice blonde '94 Gibson Le Grande that ended up going for $5100.00.... what a beauty that was - but I got a couple more in my sights). Yeah, 2630, and a steal of a deal. Sorry for my typos... |

Don't even let me get started on my thing for pre-1987 solid carbon steel European chef knives... Awww man !! (pre-1987 non-recycled steel was used for knife making, now even the top end manufacturers use recycled steel - BAD, BAD !!) LOL |

Damn, that LeGrand is gorgeous!! A bargain at $5,600 IMHO. Guess I'll go back and sharpen my classic 'Ginsu' knife collection. But seriously, if you are interested in that kind of luxury, check out Dave's Guitars in Wisconsin for used Gibbys or Wolfe's Guitars in Florida. They do the Heritages like none other. I scored from them and have cured my archtop G.A.S. for the time being, at least. |

Hi, newbie here, long-time player. Never owned an Ibanez, but that's about to change in a couple of days (FA-100 on the way for sampling). That 2360 is a nice-looking axe. Is that the Scofield model? I'd like some input on how it compares tonally (with comparable Pat # pups) and spec/neck-wise to a mid-60s ES-335. I luv the tone of my 67 335 but it's got the pencil neck and it kills my hands after a while. Thanks a lot. |

Billy: The 2360 is not the Scofield "signature" model which is called the JSM100. Nor is it the model that the JSM100 is based on and the guitar that Scofield has played for over 2 decades. That's an '81 AS200. It is the direct ancestor to the AS200, though. My recollection of the only 2630 I played was that the neck profile was "clubbier" than the AS200, which has nearly the same neck shape as the Artist series. The pickups would mostly likely be Super 80s rather than the Super 58s. The Super 58s have lasted longer than any other Ibanez pickup. That's a very big testimony to their desireability. |

Thanks, Johns, appreciate the information. So you're saying it's the grandpa to the Scofield. I like clubbier, chunkier, whatever you want to call it, in fact a Louisville Slugger is okay by me. I'll play it for a while, of course, before I consider swapping out the pups. |

Petruz, "Pencil neck" is a really skinny neck, like a pencil thin... In America "pencil neck" is also derragtory street slang for a skinny guy you don't like. Americans have such a way with words - LOL. |

I'll definitely do an A/B on the 335 and 2630. Maybe that'll be an unfair comparison, but maybe I'll be surprised...hope so, but...from everything I've researched, I don't expect Super 80s to come close to early Pat#s; the Gibby maple is older; and, generally speaking, I don't think there's any comparison between the old nitro lacquers and poly lacquers, which, in my experience, tend to deaden the tone--no "breathability." Petruz, the neck on the '67 335 is 1 9/16" (don't know the metric conversion, sorry) at the nut, without a terribly hefty profile, too. I have big hands/fingers and certain chording, especially in the lower positions, becomes quite challenging. In fact, I can barely hit a traditional four-finger C in first position without inadvertently damping the high E string. Tires my finger muscles pretty quickly, and that's not because finger/hand muscles are out of shape, either (I play and practice a lot, and my primary instrument is a '38 Gibson L-00 acoustic with a humongous V neck and serious string-to-fret spacing at the 12th fret and higher...no don't want and don't need a neck reset at this time!). Thanks, guys. I'm looking forward to getting the axe. |

hi billy now i understand... i thought you were speaking about neck depth. i like necks with a compressed "c" profile and ibanez does this stuff very well. 1 9/16 is unbelivable... just 40 mm... are you shure it's not a mandolin? in this case i agree plainly with you, i wish all necks were a bit larger, let's say a good 1 3/4! in this sense godin necks are just great. |

Just 40 mm, but when the fingers aren't spasming, the guitar really rocks! Just incredible tone, when I dig into it with the ol' Marshall, it pushes out an incredible sound out of those f-holes, practically a hurricane. But 1 3/4" with a fat neck suits me just fine! |
