Hi all, I just wanted to post a few pictures of my new am205. First off, I can't believe how much attention to detail they spent on these guitars. 2nd, I've spent some time in Australia and New Zealand so I am familiar with paua ferra abolone and the stuff they used for the inlays is as colorful and reflective as I've seen. The headstock inlay almost looks like white opal over abolone..its so translucent and colorful. I did pay quite a bit for the guitar but it was money well spent. The previous owner had bought it new in 1985, played it for a short while and stored it under his bed for the next 20 years. It came with the original key dangling from the case handle from an orangish string that matched the color of the case interior and even had the original truss rod tools etc in the case compartment. It is my opinion that this is the second pair of strings put on it. Therefore I gave the guitar a once over cleaning and decided I liked it with the pickguard off (I'm not a crazy strummer anyway). It shows of the beauty of the guitar a little better. I compared it with my AM-100 (for sale in classified section)through a line 6 amp and the sound is very similar (its not the clearest amp though). I have a an amp being built by John Nau, and hopefully it is on the way so I can give them a better side by side comparison. The bottom line is that these guitars are the most toneful, comfortable, and beautiful I have ever played. I've tried the similar model G-bombs and I think many would agree that they don't compare. I just can't stop playing this guitar. |

Thanks, This guitar is not only a joy to play, but I can't stop opening the case to take a look at it. I know people have referred to these as the 'holy grail'. I can say that I have never been happier with a guitar. To me, these Ibanez guitars are priceless! I have lost all interest in the other brands. |

Well done Tg4080. Yes, that's my Holy Grail you've got hold of there! Personally, I like the pick guard in place, but it's your guitar. They are beautiful instruments, look after it and don't give a second thought to me... |

Anyone looking for an AM205? I found this ad in craigslist. I was actually talking with him before buying the one I have now. He listed it on ebay and didnt get any action. It has a little fretwear which I used to talk him down quite a bit on his price. If he really wants to sell if after no action on ebay he will offer it at a reasonable price. http://toronto.craigslist.org/msg/156335133.html I think if you guys have any luthiers that would do a little fretwork this thing would clean up nice and be a great player. He said it doesnt buzz at all as is. |
