Here's a beauty I've not seen before: http://www.qksrv.net/click-1802666-10381315?loc=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI .dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D7358075627 Owner claims it's '80s vintage, but is the headstock consistent with this? |

The only non-original parts are the speed-knobs, these first came out in 1982; and the brass nut. Ace |

Looks original to me. My LR10 has the same knobs and brass nut and is from 81. I brought it from the first owner who changed nothing. |

As of 5PM this evening, it's mine! Looking forward to the sweet tones others have posted about here and elsewhere. It comes without the pickguard, so it seems a previous owner was wise about the gassing issue, Closeups of the hardware show only the slightest evidence of the effect on a couple of the pup mounting screws. Hoping it plays as good as it looks, but given the condition, all doubts are on the back burner for now. I have a question for you veterans . . . any of you done business with the seller before? (guitardreams99 on eBay) He seems to specialize in semi-hollow electrics. All positive feedback, but I'm a bit nervous about bank wire transfer for payment. I don't have much experience with international purchases, so just wondering how common/safe this is. TIA. Rick |

OK, a bit of searching on the boards here found some useful advice here: http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=12&post=17151#POST17 151 Namely, that "What everyone said about contacting the seller before you bid is GOLDEN. Also giving the person your phone number is really good. There is nothing like a short conversation between serious adults/guitar collectors to put a person's mind at ease (your's and his)." (Bigmike) So thanks, Bigmike, I did email the seller before bidding and received a prompt reply, and also talked to him as a fellow collector and player, which put most of my doubts to rest. Now I just need to keep my cool during the transit. I'll post some more info once I've got some hands-on and a sense of this baby's mojo. |

Well, it took a month to get here from Germany, but I can stop (start?) fretting now. Needless to say, I'm quite pleased. For a bit more info, see my comments in this recent thread: http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=16&post=36318#POST36318 Ah, the time-honored tradition of the centerfold 8-). Here she is: I'll see if I can post a couple more after the plek treatment. |

Massx, That Ibanez LR-10 was a great catch. Please let us know what you think of her after you've had a chance to road test her. From the owner of (3) Ibanez LR-10 guitars... BLUES |

Hey Blues. Thanks for the good word. I'll follow up once I've had the setup done, and I've gotten some good hours in. Three of them, huh? Can't have too much of a good thing, I suppose! I feel pretty lucky to have nabbed one. Here's a question for you: Do all your LR-10s have bookmatched tops and backs? I've seen pictures of at least one other that is apparently not. Maybe only certain production runs/years? Just curious. Rick |

Massx~ Nice score! Love the figured wood. I've always viewed the LR10 as a true 'players guitar'. No fancy inlays or binding, just a great instrument. Let's hear from you after she arrives. Tim |

LR10 Experts...I Need Your Help! I got a line on a 'very used' LR10 for a pretty good price. But I read somewhere that they have thin neck profiles and smallish frets. The seller is across the country and did his best to describe these and other features to me. If any owners of LR10's are still out there jammin', please chime in on the neck and frets. |

OK fine! No replies. Well I pulled the trigger on the LR10 since I've always wanted to check one out...and being a huge Rit fan. If it turns out to be a dog (which I serously doubt!) I can always turn it for a quick sale.............................. . . . . . or not. |

OK, she arrived packed like the remains of King Tut, protected in every conceivable way. And the store threw in a brand new hard shell case...that did not quite fit the dimensions of the 1980 LR10 that rested inside. This LR was obviously case-less, played a lot, abused even more. She must have fallen off of amps, stands, and maybe even a stage or two during her 26 years. I've never owned such a beat up, dented, scratched, wormy backed guitar. But HOLY CRAP, this guitar plays and sounds fantastic! Not a single mark on the frets and if re-fretted, I cannot tell. The Brazillian rosewood is absolutely smooth and beautifully grained reddish brown. I was concerned that the neck profile would be too thin for my over-sized hands, but it is close to my 2630's girth. The vol/tone pots are dead quiet and full ranged. Pickup covers have been changed since they are the only still shiny metal parts on her. The sound is a bit bright, but articulate and smooth enough for jazz, blues, rock, fusion, pop or whatever. After putting on a fresh set of DR Blues 11's, it loved me back with gorgeous warmth, great attack and subtle overtones. Action is incredibly low but stable and intonation spot-on. Yes, she is a beater, but for under a grand, a definite bargain and a keeper in the humble stable of Guitar Tim. This LR10 is going to be gigged...a LOT more. The shop Photo does not show the road wear but here she is:
