Unhappy with the very exspensive Bartolini J5 floating jazz pick-up, i decided to mod the orginal Super 70neck pick-up which was on my orginal FA100 before it was modded...(many of you know the story and the colour )

I have to say we are almost there ...we (my father in law) because i'm a total a-technical guy.So he is doing all the work...

Bought a black plastic pick-cover, made the height of it a bit lesser and than soldered a new mounting ring on the pick-up...removed the holders where normally the springs are...

we are now adjusting the height of the pick-up....space is limited...but it fits and it the plastic cover doesn't interupt with the strings.
Yesterday night did the first test and the sound is just amazing (warm fat jazz)...much much better than the Bartolini pick-up....hopefully next week we can connect the pick-up on the guitar...the pickguard needs some work...but i keep you all informed...because i think its a great mod...

have a look at the pics....its mobile phone quality....

Very cool! But I think you need to paint it purple!:-)

Definitely let us know how it works when you have it finished.

Very creative solution! Interesting that the Bart. did not do it for you however. I believe Seymour Duncan has a hand in those.

Super 70's, 80's and 58's are all nice sounding humbuckers, (depending on the guitar) but each a little different power output. Have you put a meter to yours?

the guitarsound is just awesome fat, warm, deep and dynamic. I'm using a Polytone Amp right now ,with a celestion speaker which i'mn't very fond off, looking for an old fender amp.
