Hi I'm new here and I just got myself an Artstar AS120. I'm not sure if anyone saw it on ebay about a week ago or so. I paid $540USD for it. It's a 2002 based on the serial number. My main guitars before this are a Fender Telecaster 62 Reissue and a PRS Soapbar SEII. So far I'm very pleased with it. Question is did I pay too much for this guitar?

Hi, I just bought an artstar 120 also...I guess I was lucky. Its a 2000 model, same color as yours with gold hardware. Git it for 479 with hardshell case. All Ican say is, after over 50 years of playing every conceivable guitar this one tops them all. Enjoy your guitar...I'm loving mine...I feel like I'm playing my old gretsch chet atkins tennesean...fingers are flying and its heaven!

I am a big fan of Ibanez semi-acoustic and full acoustics. There are a lot of postings here about vintage Japanese made models and recently, quite a bit about Chinese made models as well. The Korean models, however, have had very few write-ups and I for one would appreciate some comments from owners/players of these guitars. ...so, tell me more would you? Thanks.

Well, let me start with the general appearance; looks better than the 2002 gibson dot cherry reissue I had purchased about 4 months ago and , because of the weight and so-so feel traded it for a LP Classic for one of my dutiful sons who allways wanted one. The adgeing is 5 ply around the body and peghead, the cherry finish is exquisite, gold hardware OK (would have been happier with chrome), but I don't sweat much so no problem there. The fingerboard feels like I've played it all my life...the frets are medium with edgeing and a combination mth o pearl and abalone blocks in all the right places. When you strum the strings unamplifies both the body and the fingerboard vibrate in a reassuring way that tells you...even if the pups were cheap this guitar will sound great...well, the pups are super 58's and the tonal variations are fantastic...e.g. the slightest back off of the neck pup tone knob creates all kinds of variations with no appearant muddiness. The bridge pup screams rock, blues and shred. I used the guitar with a vox valvtronic 30, a kustom 30 watt acoustic amp, and a fender g-dec. If I had my old fender delux reverb it would sound even better I think, hoever the vox has lots of control so no problem there. The tuning pegs are fine and the rest of the metalworks are of a higher caliber that the metal on the artcore's (I have an artcore af75 orange I also love, but that is strung with flatwound 11's strictly for jazz and pops) It weighs less than the es335...which is better for me (I'm going on 69) but fits the body better than the 335. I can see why gibson got after them...this feels like I thought the gibson was going to feel. Fit and finish is awesome as most Asian musical instruments are and that neck...that neck is the best outside of my old gretsch tennessean...I mean the fingers just fly with the d'addario 11's. Thin pick sounds great and fingerpicking is a breeze...Ibanez is the toyota of guitars and this is the camry...my old Joe Pass was the avalon.

I know that I'm late to the party, but I also have to chime on the AS120TR....the guitar is pure heaven. I either play it clean or "lightly" distorted(my sound is the more "70's fusion sound" of Lee Ritenour. And when hooked up to the TubeScreamer TS7 and Weeping Demon WD7-
Viva la Funk!!!!

As for if you paid too much, I guess that would depend on how you feel a few months after jamming with it. Enjoy.
