I for one am happy the prices are going up to where they should have been a long time ago. Great news for those of you that have huge collections I would imagine. Seems there will be less and less "freebies" so to speak, like there used to be.

There are more players out there than has ever been and not enough vintage guitars to go around. .

I had my eye on that baby and then the bidding went crazy! I thought there may have been some bidding fraud, however, in the end, it looks like someone legit paid the big bucks.

It's a real nice one. It just goes to show: MINT = $$$.

Hey Mike...bet that "legit" someone would have been a LOT happier if the seller didn't allow the questionable "newbie" bids !

I don't get the problem with newbie bids: to me, it means they have the sense not to spend too much time or buy too many things on eBay. What I dislike about that auction is that, after the first bid, two guys who obviously wanted the guitar beat each other over the head as the only two bidders, all the way up to $1,150. I was watching at the close, and the winner, who obviously had the software to jam in at the last second, came out of nowhere at $1,175. The guy with the best software won. The best part about the auction was that I didn't bid, but instead "overpaid" $700 for the other, previous AS-50 that had not reached reserve last week, and which came with the Gibson PAFs I'd have had to buy anyway. And which is a killer.

what was once considered "overpaying" is obviously changing pretty quickly. i'm not speaking from much experience with AS-50s or anything, but it sounds like you got a pretty decent deal there at $700 especially with the upgraded pickups.

are there any pictures of this thing that could be uploaded? i always appreciate new stuff to gawk at!

I think so too Ace because my buddy is selling his FA100 on ebay and he will not put any false bids on there thats why there are no bids I think LOL I hope. LOL

First of all, I don't think dylanm1105 was placing false bids. If my post lead you to think that, I apologize.

Is your friend's FA100 the one with a $1,300 BIN price? That may be enough to stop a number of bidders from trying, and besides, 10 days is a long time. Your friend is right in not placing false bids, it may turn around and bit him. Just tell your friend to be patient, it's a price you pay when you run a 10-day auction.

Hi Dave,

I think the usual price for AS50's has gone up a little bit and is more like $600 to $700 nowadays.

Ace

Yeah he is the one with the BIN 1300... but his reserve he wont tell me what it is but he says its under 1000.00 so I would think that its worth that at least. The guitar is in really good condition. Its not mint but very minor scratches and stuff like that. NO chips or cracks
