While Ibanez did some great 335 and 345 copies, as well as their own later variants of the centre woodblock thinline Gibsons, I am interested to know if they did any ES330 type thinlines, ie completely hollow with no centre block. Some kind soul here is bound to know. |

arlington, that's a good question. i'd like so much to try one of these... but i'm afraid ibanez did not make any hollowbodied thinline. maybe in the lawsuit era... johns, what do you say? some days ago i tried an epiphone casino. although the instrument was not superb i was very pleased by its lightness. hofner makes an interesting model called the verithin, 335-like with no center block. |

Good question. If Ibanez did make such an instrument, I too would like to know more about it. Gibson's Custom Shop currently makes three incredible full hollow thin body guitars...CS-336, CS-356 and the Johnny A. Signature models. Interestingly, these are similar in size and design to the original Ibanez 'AM' series, but the Gibbies are fully carved mahogany back and sides, with carved full hollow maple tops, 24.75 and 25.5 scale necks respectively. |

I asked this question in the Replica section a few months back without a response . Still curious though. I know the 2454 is a full hollow w/o the block but has the Super 70's pups not the single coil/P90's ala the Epi Casino/Gibby ES330. |

Hi all! There are a few Ibanez ES-style thinline models without the central sustain block, but they all have humbucking pickups or Les Paul Recording-style oblong pickups with plastic covers. Speaking of the 70's copy era, of course. Until now (after 6 years of intensive research) I never saw or heard of a thinline model with the P90-style single coils. I would love to hear if somebody out here DOES know about such an Ibanez. Kind greetings, Harry |

If it's the single-coil P90 sound you want, there is a way to get it. I just installed Seymour Duncan Phat Cats (essentially P90s designed to drop into a humbucker slot) in my AS-50. Sounds killer. John |
