2630 Pickguard? Bueller?

Author Message   Formula73 Username: Formula73 Registered: 03-2005 Posted on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 - 2:26 am:    I suppose I should have come here first, but I've got a 1978 2630 (that's the more upscale of the 335 copies, right?) that's been missing the pickguard since I bought it and I'd like to replace it one of these days. Anybody got one out there in decent shape with the hardware? My 2630's guard gassed out several years ago, damaging everything around it, so I removed it and put it in a plastic bag. Been there, done that with my GB10. Finding an original Ibanez pickguard for a 2630 that has not already started to deteriorate is going to be a real difficult, if not impossible task. Anybody else notice this on their deteriorating pickguard? For some reason, I thought that these would dry out and crumble, not liquify. How about you? Ever consider a replacement? I have my old 2630 guard packed away...somewhere. I kept it in the hopes of using it as a template for a custom pickguard. Ill - fitting pickguards drive me absolutely nuts. I suppose I'd actually try to go with a dirty cream color to match my discolored pickup rings. Come to think of it, they might have been discolored from the original pickguard! The 2630 guard has a white binding glued to the main tortoise shell plastic of the guard. I wonder if it's the glue that binds these parts together that causes the disitigration problem over time? six   Formula73 Username: Formula73 Registered: 03-2005 Posted on Monday, April 10, 2006 - 3:36 am:    You know, I never really thought about it, but I noticed when I bought the thing that the treble side of the pickup rings was (and still is) discolored and the gold plating on the pickups was (is) also worn off the treble side. Does this have to do with this 'gassing out?' Call it temporary insanity. Does anyone know where to obtain a good replica? I'd be fine with a copy. Is it the same pick guard as my AS180 or AS100?
