Loop, good question. Ibanez does not advertise (brag?) about its wood sources like other makers do. Could it be because they source from a variety of countries depending on price, availability and quality? I do not know, but like you, have always wondered about the mahogany, maple, rosewood and ebony used in their high end products over the years. I recall reading Ibanez marketing blurbs in the 80's stating something like "...using only the finest materials available...". Here is a link to a fairly complete description of the JSM100 from a UK retailer, but unfortunately, nothing too specific about wood: http://www.theibanezstore.com/oscommerce/product_info.php?cPath=21_25_92&product s_id=261&osCsid=7149c400e2ce5925d10dcd4d99ec6f61 |
