So there I was having promised that the AK85 I bought at Xmas would be my last. Oh well... a colleague at work is selling a 2453: It plays really well and sounds great but... Obvious thing is the missing pickguard. The neck has a very slight "s" curve, i.e. the relief bow in the neck starts from the body/neck joint. It doesn't seem to affect the playability. The frets indicate it hasn't actually been played much. The seller says he hasn't played for about 20 years. Asking £200 and I'm sorely tempted. I've seen other requests on here for pickguard info. Has anyone found anywhere where I can get a replacement made up? I'd guess at this being '76 judging by the headstock and inlay ut it has no serial number. |

Wow....beatiful guitar! For 200 pounds I wouldn't care if the pick guard is missing and the neck has a slight "S" curve..... Kind greetz, Harry |

The "s" in the neck is so slight that I'm the only one who is able to see it! Intonation is spot on, frets good. The only differnce I could see it making is if I strung it with ultra-light guage strings and lowered the action to 0.0000001 microns... not something I'd do. One other thing is the yellowing of the binding. 99% of it is nicely aged but around the headstock it has gone a bright yellow. Not sure if this can be slightly toned down. Oh well... the dishwasher I'm supposed to be buying this month will have to wait until next month |

Take a look at the one on ebay at the moment. Notice the differences. http://www.qksrv.net/click-1802666-10381315?loc=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI .dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D7414227101 Someone ruined it with the humbucker, but also the differences in the headstock are unusual. What do you guys think? |

Headstock design changed in 76 to the "vine" rather than the torch. I see what you mean about the pickup replacement! |
