I have a mdl 2355 1973? es 175 sunburst, and a guy wants to trade me his gibby es 135 limited edition , blonde, so, im thinking the gibby is prolly more versatile and quicker for resale, but the ibanez is more vintage , better for straight out jazz, and will appreciate more in the long run, your comments appreciated, j |

I have seen an ES135 special edition being offered for months on a couple of websites here. I don't know if it ever got sold or the guy gave up selling it. I have seen many ES135 for sale on the web, but I don't see them going fast. I think (THINK) that the Ibanez might have more appeal. my 2c |

Hi Jazzbo Don't you think it's kind of dangerous to ask if you should trade your Ibanez 2355 for a Gibby 135 on an Ibanez Collectors Board....? Kind greetz, Harry |

hi, it may be dangerous , yes, but these foks here seem to have more insight than the freaks on ebay or craigs list, ive heard the gibby es 135 is made rather cheaply, we know the 2355 is quality stuff, so, im trying to get ideas , thanks again, j |

hi! i had both, the 2355 is much more jazz and much more fun. i'm not sure regarding the collectability but the 2355 looks much better, expensive, sale wise than the es135. overall i would have trade the two no less than 1:2 for the 2355 (obviously...) good luck asaf |

Hello, I don't have had both, but I have one 2355M, yes the natural, but it's post-lawsuit! And I've seen a Gibson ES-135 limited edition in December 2005 with some small wood damage at the end knob attachment point, that needed some attention. The price was 995 euro. But in Switzerland, the Argus Website says it's worth € 2200,=. The same website gives the following 2 prices for our much appreciated 2355 model: € 1450,= for the sunburst 2355; € 1670,= for the natural Flamed Maple 2355M. But as I said, this is a Swiss website and Switzerland is not a member state of the EU, so it might be more complicated to get instuments into and out of the country. I didn't try the ES-135 lim.ed. because of the damage and I think an ES-135 should in my opinion be played with the original P-100's and not with humbuckers. Than you have a blues axe like BB and the Blue Shacks from Germany. And if you like humbuckers, there are better Gibsons than the ES-135. A ES-175 Reissue form the Historic Collection has a second hand price of € 3700,= (not vintage!). You know what you have now: a good piece of wood, properly built and in sunburst vintage and pre-lawsuit. I'd rather try to save some money in my everyday expenses and buy a good second guitar. Why doesn't the Gibson owner just name his price? Is he jealous or something? Hint: If you smoke 25 cigarettes a day, stopping saves about € 1440,= per year. Just put € 30,= on your bank account instead of in the tabacco industries' pocket each week and within two years you'll be able to buy a very nice 3000 dollar guitar. It will save you much heartache as well, because it's not easy to find an good pre-lawsuit. I even heard people are willing to give up Gibsons for it! |

hi, thanks for the input, i think your right on the money, the I banez is quality axe that has done quite well over the last 30 some odd years, where as the es 135 i think is probably an ok axe , but im guessing a cheap one , i think this guy with the 135 wants the true jazz tone, cheers! j |
