I thought this might be interesting for the Ibanez George Benson fans.

I'm a big fan of Prince... he's an excellent musician, and an underrated guitarist.

Great shot of Prince! I also read about Mr. Benson giving he and Norman Brown GB10's.

Aren't those Orange amps stacked behind him? Man, how does he avoid feedback from a semi-hollow GB?? Foam stuffing maybe? Inquiring minds want to know.

I recall seeing what looked like a white finished GB10 hanging in his studio in a magazine photo a few years back. Maybe it was the same one in the photo above, but washed out in the mag. photo.

This is a still from a concert that he did in Bryant Park, NYC last week. It was televised on Good Morning America. (I taped it.)

The blonde GB12/100/prototype ??? was of great interest, to me. He played the first song on it. Then did two more songs using a Strat with a Floyd Rose on it. The same one he used a few months back when he was on Saturday Night Live, I guess.

Yes, those are Orange amps and cabs. He had another 2 stacks on the other side of the stage.

You taped it? That's so 1980!!! LOL

I, admittedly, do not have a TiVO or the like... We still 'tape' shows we miss and watch them on a crappy TV.

I'd actually like to see that show. I love Prince. He played that Floyd Fender on SNL, like you said, a few months back. Mostly, I envy his Hohner Tele.... and now this GB :-)

That Prince fella sure must be a little guy! The GB10 ain't exactly a large guitar but it looks huge on him!

Imagine if he played a White Falcon???

Cheers,

Mark

Yes, he is little. He used to go on high heels, I don't know what he's into these days. Did somebody accidentally burned the concert on DVD?

Wikipedia says he's 5ft. 2in. If you see the GMA footage, he's wearing very long pants that cover some pretty high heels.

Johns~Great shots! They clearly show that it is a GB12NT. (See the GB12 inlays in the neck and tailpiece) George Benson has that instrument on his 1993 "Love Remembers" album/CD cover, as well as on his 1997 "The Best Of George Benson: The Instrumentals" album/CD.

Could it be the same one? If so...What a 'GIFT'!!

How about a video of George Benson Playing that model guitar?

Here he is with George Duke, Dennis Chambers and an all star band playing "Valdez In The Country"...live from Sevilla, 1992.

Petruz:

Thanks for bumping this thread. The GB12 neck is 3 ply: 2 outer of mahogany and a center of maple.

I got lost in GB clips on YouTube. Here's a nice one with Earl Klugh: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlqWPKBNvgE&feature =related
