I've recently purchased a GB30 with serial No. H702461 and I've sent an e-mail to Ibanez asking for advice on how to find out the date of manufacture, but after 2 weeks of waiting feel that I might not get anywhere with them.
Can anyone throw som light on this?!?!

your guitar is a 1987, the gb30 was offered starting in 1986 and lasted only a few years. colors were black and transparent red.

Thanks Orval

Perhaps you'd be able to help with another question....
The guitar came with its original case (overall not in very good nick) and the hinges are both broken.
Do you know if I can get the same hinges from Inanez?!?! They don't seem to be very responsive, as per my previous posting.

memike,
you might try stewmac.com for case parts. ibanez had several case manufacturers make cases over the years.
the gb30 is a sweet guitar, smaller bodied and handles like a dream. i have both the black and red versions in my collection. both 1986 first year vintage.

Orval,

Thanks for the tip, but I live in England and having looked on their site, it would cost me more in shipping than the actual spares.
I will try to find something on google...
I have been very pleasently surprised by the GB30 (this one is the black beauty) and can say that it's @ present my best guitar for playability, sound and overall looks.
I had it professionally set up and the end result was fantastic. I'm not playing out at present as have started again playing after a 25 years gap (I was playing mainly rock in the early 70's up to 1981). My taste in music has changed over the years and with the GB30 I can practice the bluesey, jazzy type of riffs that might get me back on the road.
I've just discovered one for sale on e-bay with the serial number L850643 which looks strange as I believe that the letter L it's not one of the initials referring to either a Japanese, Korean or Chinese factory...
