Guy's,

I know this is a discontinued model but everyone on here that has one likes it. Good price...

Should I go for it?

It's going for €249.= / €316.= at Eigenhuizen Muziek (Nijmegen, Holland)
http://www.eig.nl/index2.html?id=17426
WITHOUT PICKUPS!!!!
#34.= for the pickup and control seems reasonable.
Personally I'm not so fond of it (no cutaway and only one floating PU), but it's a matter of personal taste.
Discontinued models can become rarities in the future, but if there was a particular reason to discontinue the model, (for example it sells badly compared to the other Artcore models), I would rather go for the more popular model with cutaway and two humbuckers.
If you can buy an AF105NT for €699.= as you recently wrote, which is indeed twice the price, you will have a far more beautiful and far more versatile guitar (Comparable to the ES-175), suitable for Jazz, rock, you name it.

If you can afford it, I'd say: go for the AF105NT. It's a stunning piece!

But if you just want to have a floating pickup guitar next to it and you find $699.= for the Emperor Regent to much, you could consider it.

For me, it's just not IT.
Really good guitars like the Emperor Regent and the George Benson are not discontinued, neither will be the AF105NT is my prediction. Not until there is a successor from a country producing just as good and cheaper than China. I don't know such a country...

Good luck, choose well

Well, I can buy the AF105 for $650 and/or the AF84EDVS for $350.

I am going to be looking at other guitars in addition to one, if not both of these. I am intrested in peoples opinions on the AF84EDVS from a sound and quality of construction stand point.

By the way, Gem, I appreciate all of your insightfull post...

Thanks, Stacey

FYI - The AF84EDVS was a limited production model, that's why they are not making them anymore.

I have one and love it. The only real problem I had was that the frets weren't finished, so I had to sand them down a bit on the sides of the neck.

The guitar sounds really good out of my fender twin - Please keep in mind I do not play distorted at all - the floating p/u is good.

I should also mention that I have modded it - new tuners, a seymour duncan jonny simth p/u, and a bone nut. These changes moved it from a really good sound, to the sound I wanted: Crystal clean.

Also, I am going to get the A105F, but I got the 84 first because it is a limited edition.

I personally like the non-cutaway as well.

I hope this helps.
