I'm pretty sure I paid way too much for an AM300BK w/ohsc, mint condition. Bought it from an ebayer but bought outside of ebay. Paid $1800 total. Love the guitar, cool factor of 10. Decide not to buy anymore Gibsons and concentrate on simi-hollow Ibanez' Artists from the early 80's. The MIJ arstars are nice but there neck profiles are much thinner than the artist'. I have a 83 AM50, best guitar I've ever owned, a GB30 recently got on ebay for $1300, sounds warmer than any of my vintage hollow body Gibsons, and an AS80 (Korea) which is an incedible instument for the price. The attention to detail on the AS80 is better than my Les Paul Limited Edition. Any thoughts. Thanks

I wish I sold my AM300 for $1,800...

I agree...if it was in mint condition, I'd say around $1,000, at most.

The AM50 is a nice guitar. If you can find one, try the AM205 or AM255. Even nicer than the AM50...

Looks like a typo. IMO it's an AM50. That's why the case doesn't fit properly, why it has no pickguard an no V-2 pickups.
The presentation sucks. This way it will never reach the reserve. He's lucky you placed a link here, Juha.

Look at the image with the literature. The literature is for an AM50. I think it's a typo...

My AM50 came with grovers on it and I'd like to put the original kind back on. Are the holes reamed too large now for going back. I imagine I would need the original bushings. Ideas?
PS
How do you paste the item number in the message?

One more thing, My AM50 has cream colored pickup rings and toggle switch. I've never seen this before. It's an '83' model, could someone have replaced them? How do you attach a photo with this site? Thanks

It is the small textbox/field above the textbox in which you type your text.
"'ebay' Enter Item number: [______][Add Ebay!]"
Paste item # in it and click [Add Ebay!]
You will see a full URL in the textbox but the short form in the final message.

I got it! Now if I can remember how. It seems like I have to enter my user name and password for each post. Is this correct? Thanks

Juha and Mwm, these tuners on eBay are not from a 1983 AM50.
The original tuners are SMOOTH TUNER II.

The pickup surrounds of my 1983 AM50 are black (3 holes).
The selector switch cap is cream.

I must say your cream pickup surrounds look good at first sight. But it seems there are small dimples between the two screws. Did someone try to close holes with some cream white stuff?

If you can't find the original SMOOTH TUNER II set, just keep the Grovers.

There's actually a third hole in the middle of the rings. I haven't taken the PUPS out, but the metal frame obviously has two holes for the upper mounting. Could someone have taken out the originals and replaced them with standard two hole models, then drilled them out? If so they did a clean job. I'll post pics of my AM300 and GB30 next week. I take it no one here wants to see my 57 ES350T with PAFS?

"Could someone have taken out the originals and replaced them with standard two hole models, then drilled them out?"

That's one posibility. It's also possible that it has been restored from a pickup mod.
(Someone found it with Duncans or Gibbies and put some Super 58s back in).

"I take it no one here wants to see my 57 ES350T with PAFS?"

Oh sure, I like any good guitar. Please start a new thread with pics in the Misc.

Ginger
