Hi, I have posted this question before, but a member told me to post it again here on this forum. To you guys who might have read it before, sorry. I`m new to this group and need some help to get started. A friend of mine wants to swap his vintage Ibanez for my Jasmine accoustic. I know nothing about Ibanez guitars, so I guess this place is a great venue to get some kind words of advice and info for a newbie. The guitar has no serial number and the neck is screwed on to the body. The guitar once belonged to an old lady that was selling the guitar that her late husband used to play. Well, I donīt think he used to play very often, as the guitar shows very litle wear. I would like to know if this is a fair swap, for both of us. I have a feeling that I am the one who will be better of in terms of value, but I don`t know. I have used it on a couple of gigs and it plays so well and sounds superb. The warm tone really impressed our sound engeneer, and he has heard a lot of guitars over the years. I simpy love the look, sound and feel of this guitar and would like to know how old it is and if it is a good swap for an accoustic Jasmine (by Takamine). Maybe this will be the start of a collection? Any comments are higly appreciated. Here is a link to some photos. I hope i got it right. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/skakke74/detail?.dir=/b034re2&.dnm=f62dre2.jpg&.sr c=ph Kind regards Jan Terje Rafdal Etne Norway |

The neck bears strong resemblence to a couple of my old ARIA guitars. I would guess that this model's birthday is around mid '70s...maybe earlier. I bet you'll find that the block inlays are genuine mother of pearl. Often the handmade cuts are none too precise for this era of guitar. But, the rosewood is generally of very good quality. Also, these guitars are a tremendous value if you like having wood that's had 30+ years to season. Some noteable features: 1. Open book headstock 2. Flower Pot inlay 3. Old style script logo...recently back in vogue 4. "Zero" fret I think Hoshino, Greco, Aria, and others had some commond sources at one time or another. I don't think this guitar came from the Matsumoku factory, but the neck (at least) may have been built in the same factory where ARIA guitars were coming from before they were reincarnated as ARIA PRO II.
