(The AM205 has a mahogany neck, an ebony fretboard with MOP Abalone MOP block inlays, a burled mahogany top, a tortoise pickguard and gold hardware; The AM50 has a 3ply maple neck, a rosewood fretboard with dot inlays, a laminated maple top, no pickguard and chrome hardware) I have exactly the same guitar from 1983 with OHSC in MINT condition. Not with any name or zip code some cousin Wolfgang Amadeus of the Adams Family engraved in the headstock: this is a HORROR DAMAGE! Would you accept this? For 1,499.-??? I guess not... But I totally agree on not selling any of our Ibanez guitars. Wenn I see that people are willing to pay these amounts of money for them, I feel even happier that I already have them. And buying back a good one will become more an more difficult. Let's pamper them, Ace! As i wrote in one of my previous posts if a Ibanez lover wants a certain model he will pay the price asked. The other side of the coin is that , i'm trying to sell a AM205SE and it goes very very slow, even lowered the price twice. Maybe they aren't that popular at the moment. But emphasize that: - your guitar is very special in general; - your guitar is very special to you; - your guitar is worth every penny you're asking; - the value of your guitar will only increase; - you only are prepared to sell if you get a really good bid; I think the best way to make this clear to your prospects is setting a reserve as high as YOU think it should bring in. The best message for a prospect after a too low bid is: RESERVE NOT MET The best selling attitude is: "TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT" Don't give prospects the impression that they can take advantage of your private situation... becaus the product you are offering has nothing to do with your situation. It is what it is: a damn good vintage or nearly vintage guitar of the brand that is considered to be the rising star on the vintage market. Your AM205 is the luxury Stagemaster and if someone wants it, he must pay the price you have in mind. And if the economy or the time of year is not good, you will not get the bid you had in mind. So what? That's what RESERVES are for! Try it again, but some other time. There will always more dollars than AM205s... Thats why i like this board, its always nice to have a second opinion...so i decided not too sell it....i have 3 AM's and they are all different and will keep it like that. I sold my AM50 last year because it sounded too trebly for my taste. My AM205 sounds much darker because of the mahogany and I like it much better. It is the one that will be buried with me. Artfield, keep the AM205 and don't sell it for less than top dollar, it will be ranked right up there with the AS200 some day.
