AM50 verses ES336 CS356

Has anyone ever owned the Gibson equivalents? If so, how do they compare? MIKE   Trumpus Username: Trumpus Registered: 4-2005 Posted on Sunday, June 10, 2007 - 8:59 pm:    I've got a CS-346 (Paul Jackson Jr. Signature model) and my buddy has an ES-336. I've got an '82 AM-205 to compare it to. The 205's stock pickups have been swapped out by the previous owner in favor of some Duncans (boo! - anyone know where I can score a pair of Super '58's?) Most notably, the "feel" of the guitars is completely different. The 205 is slightly larger than the Gibsons and a bit lighter. The ES-226 is lighter than the PJ jr, which is the heaviest. The neck on the Ibanez is flatter and the frets are wider, whereas the Gibson necks feel chunkier, with a more notable C-shape and shorter scale length. My Ibanez sounds a bit more raw than the Gibsons, which sound a bit rounder, and jazzier. OVerall, I actually prefer the feel of the Ibanez to either of the Gibsons! Brian
