This beautiful MIJ AS80, F98206xx made by Fuji Gen in 1989, with a tortoise pickguard, chrome Gibraltar II bridge and Quik Change II tailpiece, was offered with the wrong assumption that it was a 1998 guitar. Of course the reserve was not met.

This one is a 1989!

Ginger:

I disagree. Here's the AS80 from the '98 catalog. Note the shape of the headstock, headstock emblem shape, f-hole shape and finish...identical.

If it where from '89 (and I don't see any AS80s shown in the catalogs that year) it would have the thin tapered headstock that appeared around '87/'88 and lasted thru '96.

The big "CE" ( Consultants Europe ) on the headstock makes it a '97 or later.

So is this really MIJ?

Johns is right.
The seller made a mistake, not the YEAR, but a different one. It is an 1998 ArtSTAR (with the wide headstock).
but not the AS80 (typo).
It is the MIJ AS180! And it didn't get a higher bid than $306.99
We've all been sleeping!
The seller was lucky having set a reserve...
