Aside from a rather large piece of finish missing, it looks very playable.

Agreed...Very playable AND very restorable with a minor pro refinish job.

I always appreciate Olivia's thorough Ebay photos. But usually her prices are 'out there'.

Thread Hijack:
But hey, did you see her auction for a Guild X-170 archtop?! A bargain-priced beauty.

Here is another one, but now it's a 1987 from the Terada factory. (H700372 new serial number system.)

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-1751-2978-71/1?AID=5463217&PID=1802666&mpre=ht tp%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D20006640993

The first one (D860836) is from April 1986 and still has an old system serial number.

Nice detail:
Compare the strap pins!
I love the newer ones.

I copied a few of the pictures of both ads in order to upload them later, because some day they will be removed from eBay.

The short stop bridge is an interesting part, you don't see that often any more.
I believe something like that was with that bunch of parts I bought this summer. So now I know how it looks on a guitar.

I have no experience with these things. It's something between tune-o-matic and wrap-around.
I'm curious:
How are AM70's compared to AM50's for instance?
Do these bridge improve the sustain? Or is it all the same, and just a way to set a guitar up with less parts (cheaper production).

Anyway, I think the old AM50, with its Gibraltar II and Quik Change II combination, looked better.

The ebay auction (H700372) has been removed, for some reason.

Oh, the reason was pretty obvious.
He had set no reserve, they were low balling between $200-300 and it had only 15 hours to go when I started to write about it.
The older one went for $605.01 so this could have gone terribly wrong with no reserve.
So I think he'll try again some other time.

BUT I GOT PICS! COMING UP SOON!
(not all of them, but enough: you'll see the Grover tuners, the short stop, the V-shape strap pins, the IBZ pickups, the undamaged finish, the neck joint, (I remember comparing both nuts: both were carbon) and and and...
just some interesting stuff for the Stagemaster fans.

Is this the auction you were following?

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-1751-2978-71/1?AID=5463217&PID=1802666&mpre=ht tp%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D200066409939

Same serial number as mentioned above but different item number.

A very reasonable price in my opinion. I almost bid on it. A great rock/fusion guitar with the IBZ triple magnet pickups. Or, you could always swap the pickups (like I did) to get more of a jazz tone. Perhaps a decent (and cheaper) alternative to the AM50, considering how much they have been selling for lately.
