Just wanted to say hello. My name is Jay. I've been with Hoshino USA for about 8 years now and I am one of the Admins on our home forum, going by the same user name! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! We have alot of cool new products coming out in 2008, and another model that will most likely be revealed to ICW first! I handle the Ibanez forum in what little spare time I do have, and will try to bop in here as often as I can. Thanks for supporting our brand! Working here is a privilege and I enjoy every minute of it!

Hi Jay,

Welcome to ICW. The interest in vintage Ibanez has grown tremendously over the past 8 years that I have been a member of this forum. The Handcrafted Reissue program is fantastic to see.

I'd love to see Ibanez reurn to its roots and base more of its new models on Ibanez designs of the past.

One dream I have is a vintage spec'd Iceman IC400 in pearl white with gold hardware and gold sparkle binding. Essentially a PS-10 with a Gretsch White Falcon colour scheme!!!! Wouldn't that be something!

BTW, are you aware the aussie chapter is having its first ever get together this week at Australis Music in Sydney?

cheers,

Mark

Thank you for all the warm greetings! I have myself quite a collection of Ibanez guitars from throughout the years that I've been here, unfortunately, the most "vintage" one that I own (personally) is an Ergodyne 6 string guitar from the 90's made from the synthetic luthite material that the Ergodyne basses were known for. It was never sold stateside, and it resembles a JS model quite a bit.

I'm not a huge vintage guru like some others here, but I have resources and if you have any specific questions that you can't seem to find an answer to, fire it my way and I'll do my best to answer it for you.

Jay, even though we don't talk much about current products, you may find the reissue threads most interesting. ICW members, and JohnS in particular, have definitely been a force in that space. There are already about 6 or 7 members that've acquired new AR5000REs, not to mention the earlier AW twins and Weir Cowboys!

Anyway, again, best wishes.

Welcome Jay! I would like to hear about the jazz boxes. Are there plans to release anything more "traditional"? I have posted a pic of a model in a couple of places here.. it's the Bruce Forman custom FG100 with an ebony fingerboard without ornamentation... just the ebony... and just one pickup... well, I would like to see something in that direction. Any comment will be appreciated.

Chuke:

My understanding is that they do because, believe it or not, they purchased some items from me for that museum.

The only thing they have is the conference room that I visited back in 2004 where they had and still have a dozen or so guitars hanging on display, nothing really intense. I believe that JD said there was one in Germany. HUSA does have enough guitars to make one but hasn't so far. In fact the some of the vintage axes in the conference room they had to purchase privately after they realized that they were starting to get some attention as collector pieces. There is a thread here with all this info somewhere.

OK, since we're also letting Jay know what we want to see from Hoshino, here's my request...

MIJ GB30 with a fatter neck profile (reissue);

Continue to offer the MIJ Prestige Signature jazz boxes (GB's, JSM, PM)

Chazmo: Yes, I know many of your members are proud owners of some of the Reissues. I believe someone was just here picking one up a week or two ago! I didn't have a free moment to talk with him, but I heard some commotion in the office. ;)

Chucke: We don't have a museum here in Bensalem. As Ibanezfreak stated, we do have our conference room, which originally was the office back in the day, which has about a dozen "prime" pieces, mostly from the 80's and 90's. However, we DO have a collection that is NOT on display. A few years back we purchased a mint condition Tama guitar for that collection. We also have our awards of excellence on display in our waiting room. ;)

Sixvsix: XL, why do you ask? :-)

Guitartim: Ah, so you like MIJ GB's? I do too!

Are there any wiring diagrams available for vintage Ibanez guitars (up until 1986) that are different from those on Jim Donahue's website:
