The question? What do you think is the better strategy for listing items on eBay (since both tend to cost the same fee-wise): 1. Set a low starting bid (say 99 cents) and then have a reserve set for your minimum selling price (say $200); or, 2. Set a starting bid at your minimum selling price ($200) and have no reserve? I've never sold anything on eBay, but I've observed some buyers' behavior over time... I think a onesy-twosy seller would probably go one route or the other. An experienced, frequent eBay seller would likely go for neither and count on sniper activity, thus reducing eBay cost overhead in the sale. I'll be interested to hear sellers' thoughts on this. I don't know if the eBay costs are equal, but I'd likely go with #1. At the end of such an auction (assuming it's unsuccessful), there would be more bids to look back on... It's also conceivable with #1 that having a little more "buzz" on an item could influence snipers that your item is resellable and thus draw them in. But, it would be a small effect, if any.
