When I used bidsnipe in the past, I don't recall having to divulge my ebay password to them, now it seems every snipe service requires your ebay password. Is this the norm? I don't like it. I can always change my password after auction but alot of damage could be done in just a few moments if someone's got your password.

Exactamundo, and that's what has been happening with phishers using phony shill Ebay ID's. Watch out! If someone messages you through the Ebay message system, be carefull. If they have a rating of say zero to 5, ignore them. Never click on anything they point you to, for any reason. Ebay will always deny that their system is corrupted.

Ubetcha, I take it your reply means that yes, it is the norm now to have to give them your password. Is that correct, is that norm now?

yessir, and change it after every substantial transaction. It's a hassle, but it's the only way to feel secure in communication & business over the net anymore. After what I have experienced in the past couple years. IMO, FWIW & just my $.02. Marquis de Queensbury rules...protect yourself at all times.

Essentially all sniping is is programming a computer to log in and place a bid for you, so they do require your password.

Bob, I use Bidnip, and you enter your ebay password at the sign up stage, rather than every transaction. Never had a problem or had any doubt about security with it. Never had any bogus email because of it either.

Thanx Snow. There were star tuners on ebay, auction ending over the weekend, I don't own a computer so I wanted to snipe the star tuners from computer at work but didn't because of the divulging of the password issue but, if you say these guys are OK, I'll try them when I need to do a snipe next time.
