This style of playing always makes me a little nervous...in a creppy kind of way...like I'm watching someone levetate right in front of me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJkODFmjt0Q&NR=1 |

Whats sad is people just walk on by, oblivious to what is happening before their eyes. That was very unique. This guy levitates a bit too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGujRQh1FBU |

They walk on by because it's BORING. Technical wanking like that annoys the crap outta me. I'd walk on by too. The Bear |

yeah is monotonous after 5 minutes, but still very "unique", none the less. Like it or hate it, never seen that style before. I'd stop every time to see something that unique. That second one sounds a bit like Robin Trower at times. He likes that violin effect with the peadal and volume allot...tight band. |

I have nothing neg. to say about this guy's playing. I think it's cool. it's certainly not original (Jeff Healy/Jordan) nevertheless, it's extremely dificult to do and I think the guy deserves credit. Try it and... see how you do and then form an opinion maybe. he does deserve some credit whether or not you enjoy what you're hearing just for the proficiency he has with it. Listen, you can shake the trees and good guitar players will fall out, but... how many of them will play the darn thing in this fashion and with this amount of dexterity? So... This guy has more of a chance of being "noticed" and getting somewhere than most blokes with an axe. He was certainly interesting enuff to be posted on this site... ay? That says something. Yes, we'd all get bored with listening to dang near anything for too long, I agree but I just think he deserves a tiny bit more credit, IMHO. |

i saw Stanley jordan at the newport jazz festival back in the eighties. he did a jaw dropping version of Elenor Rigby in that style. if i remember correctly Stevie Ray Vaughn and Miles Davis were both also on that bill. man those were the days.... link/http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QaWUjJkBZA |

I agree with JCMC64 and Bobzilla. I don't get easily bored by such an exceptional talent. The stuff he's playing sounds a lot like Paco de Lucia on his Siroco album of 1987, but it's played in an unconventional way. It's incredible that he sits there in the open with such an expensive PRS on his lap with the risk of being robbed. Ginger |

I saw Michael Hedges many times, and he was great - during my Windham Hill phase. Unfortunately, he's no longer with us. mk |

Nice Roadstar. If you click on his other performances you can see his other axes on stands. I recognize from the headstocks: a Vigier and a Travis Bean. I love the sound of that Vigier, really sweet. Ginger |

I am guessing the style came from this instrument invented in 71. What a trip! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozt9am44pKc&mode=re lated&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JjimMO2SdE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_tDbz0iQIM&mode=re lated&search= |

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm you need 2 brains to play like this and... I only have... maybe... a half. Can't say I care too much for the style but... I'll give him credit anyways, just for having 2 brains. |

"during my Windham Hill phase" Ha. Yeah i went through a Windham hill phase too.. lol.. shudder to think. saw Micheal H. twice on the Aerial Boundaries tour and once on the Tap Root tour. yes he is sadly missed. Its funny cause I'm such a sloppy player, but i still love to take in this virtuosity. I can't listen to it all the time, its gets old quick. I think its all about the individual, a sloppy player with heart and soul can move me as much as a virtuoso player with chops. it doesn't matter what style someone plays in, what matters is how it affects my senses and my soul. |

"Jordan's ripping a 83' RS1000cs with a later Ibanez pointy headstock neck added...very cool." Ibanez built a few guitars for Stanley with Modulus Graphite necks. This one was based on the RS1300. The Bear |

Hey bear ...I've seen one of these on Ebay a few months back (or so)! At least it had the graphite neck. I had no idea it could of been original like that. The serial # says 84...I don't remember ever seeing pointy h\s in 84...? Do you know anything about the one in this video? (one I was referring to) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZ68hjB-RBo I thought it was his own creation years later, since I know there were no pointy's in 83'. |
