I'm leaving for HK next Friday. I've found Tom Lee Music (multiple stores), Nelson Piano Company, Tsang Fook Piano Company and Guitar Classics. I think these are all in Kowloon. I'll be poking around a bit, but I'm headed for Japan after HK where we're going to visit a couple of used Ibanez shops. Good travels! |

I worked at the Tom Lee store in Causeway Bay when I was in high school during the summer. The store is no longer there but their main store is still off Cameron Road in Tsim Sha Tsui on the Kowloon side. It is no longer the old family run store as before but then, what is. I was there this January and found its inventory much smaller than in the old days. If you are native and really good in bargaining, you should be able to get at least 30% off the list price. So pretend you are an American living in Hong Kong and don't let them know you're a tourist. The same goes for Tsang Fook but the discount is slightly less. Nelson and a place called Rockson are smaller stores worth venturing to as they, like other smaller neighborhood music stores, carry used instruments. I bought a 60's Hagstrom in one of those stores in 2004. Guitar Classics is after my time and I don't know anything about it. Check the yellow Pages in the hotel and go hunting. Have fun and good luck. |
