UPP400 or EPP400? The EPP400 is a programmable effects switcher/looper which works with the IFC60 foot controller or midi controller. I happen to have an extra one... mk |

Ooops... Need to learn to proof read before I click. *E*PP400 Sorry, folks, and thanks Michael. What does the EPP400 actually do? What's its purpose in life? Does it simply switch between external line-in effects laden signals or does it generate its own effects against a clean line-in signal? Will it drive a line-out to a guitar amp or will it only output to a "hi-fi" stereo amp? Thanks. - Pete |

The EPP400 has no effects of its own. It works like this: Say you have a bunch of effects pedals and your loop is as follows: guitar > effect A > B > C > D > amp. This is a standard daisy-chained effects loop. The problems with this approach include: - signal degradation and it passes through all of the effects - limited flexibility as you cannot re-order the effects. The EPP400 addresses both issues. Essentially, you plug all of the effects into the unit via separate connections. You then define loops, ie: A B A > B > C B > D D > B etc. Via the IFC60 footswitch, you can recall any pre-defined loop at any time. So, if you're in the middle of a song, just press the right switch and you'll be playing through the desired loop. Also, your signal won't be traveling through the pedals not currently in use. btw...it's a 1U rackmount unit. mk |

Michael - Thanks for the explanation. The one I saw on eBay said it had something like 128 presets, I think. I thought that meant it had 128 different effects, like a synth. Guess it's not what I thought it was. Thanks, but I'll pass. - Pete |
