The look almost identical to my Super 70's, except mine are engraved on the back and only have 2 height adjustment screws (vs 3). Do you actually have these pickups? You may need to look really hard to see the engraving. mk |

They're probably not engraved: the ink stamp is where the engraving would be. |

Chucke, they look quite identical to Ibanez' Super58, but I agree with Peter that these might come from some other brand, however they can be (and almost sure are) from the same factory, Nisshin Onpa Seisakusho, that made also Ibanez pickups. However, Ibanez Super58's have that "stamp" in the bottom plate, that says "Ibanez" and "Super 58".. |

I'm thinking they are super 58's based on how they look and the possible timeframe of manufacture. Thanks for the opinions, all. |

Well, most likely they are manufactured by Nisshin Onpa (Maxxon) but all "Ibanez Super 58" pickups I've seen have been stamped with aforementioned logo & text. However they might as well be identical with Ibanez pickups of the same era, the Super 58 was introduced in 1980 and that three-point mounting was discontinued 1987/88..

So, these pups were up on eBay, but badly described in their title, so somewhat under the radar. The description says the seller bought them in 1982 but never used them, and he *thinks* they may be Ibanez. I put a fairly low bid on them and won the auction for $31.67. For another $10 (yes, expensive) they'll be shipped to me, and if it turns out they are not Ibby 58's, then, well, I paid $40 for two shiny gold humbuckers. Ebay Item #140177278562 -Chuck |

The pickups arrived today. I scraped off some waxy buildup on the bottom of one of the pups, and then the other, and... JACKPOT! They are stamped: Ibanez SUPER-58 So, how much is a pair of NOS Gold-plated Super 58's from 1982 worth, with no wearing of the gold, though a little scratched? And who wants to make me an offer (trade or cash) I can't refuse? -Chuck |

For reference, a matched pair of these, but without covers or mounting screws (and untested, to boot) went for $172.50 on the Bay. Ebay Item #250182088852 |

Chuck, Don't sell them. You will need them for a restoration job sooner than you ever think. Or, how about putting them on your AS103? Juha |

Oops, I forgot she (Chuck's AS103) has Super 70s. Hm, perhaps it is not a bad idea to try how Super 58s sound on her. Juha |

I was thinking about that, Juha. I'll need cream three-hole pickup rings for them, though. I was also thinking I could pick up an AS83 possibly and put them in that one, but I have my sites set on getting a 2630 in the near future and won't need three semi's. |

"... in the near future and won't need three semi's." That is what you think now but after some months you will have a couple more and say "now I don't need more" and so on ... It is called collector's syndrome and it has no cure when Ibanez is involved. Juha |
