I just picked this up off of Seattle Craigslist for $225. It's neck-through construction, brass nut and inlays, brass bridge, full scale, with active electronics for each pickup (the bridge pickup is new, but I have the original and may be able to salvage it). All in all, it's in great shape for what I believe is a late '70s to early 80's bass, but I can find almost nothing on this brand/model on the net. Anyone ever seen anything like this or have any information on Austin guitars? I found one review of a V copy, and some pics posted by a guy looking for a replacement bridge. Soundwise, it's pretty good, and will satisfy my need for a low-end bass I can drag to open mic nights without fear of getting it damaged or stolen. Just don't tell me this is really worth $1,000 or I'll have to "treasure" it instead. -Chuck |
