Some of us call the headstock used (among others) on the AS and AM models between 1987 and 1996 the Artstar headstock (next to the castle headstock, used on solid and (semi-) hollow body Artists before 1987 and the tulip headstock, which was reintroduced in 1997. This is NOT correct. The Artstar range name was only introduced to split solid body Artists from the former (semi-) hollow body Artists. The solid body Artists between 1987 and 1996, produced by Iida had the same headstock as the (semi-) hollow body Artstars. So it's actually just the '87-'96 era narrow headstock. Here is an example of an Iida made solid body Artist from 1989: http://www.marktplaats.nl/index.php?url=http%3A//m uziek.marktplaats.nl/snaarinstrumenten-gitaren-ele ktrisch/131323224-ibanez-artist.html This guitar is neither in my Dutch 1988 nor in my 1989 pricelist, so it was probably imported (from Germany?) Calling it an Artstar headstock would be nonsense, because all Artstars since 1997 had tulip headstocks, including the MIJ AS180 and AS200. Ginger |
