Author Message Cmangeot Username: Cmangeot Registered: 04-2005 Posted on Saturday, May 14, 2005 - 2:59 pm:    This is the one of the two non-Ibanez that I own.(the other is the aria pro II cs-350 in the background) I got it for a graduation present in 1994. It is an '86 Fender Strat 60's reissue, it have used it as no. 1 until about 2 years ago, it is getting too beat up, but you still can not break it!! It has a SD lil' screamin' demon in the bridge, an SD ssl-1 in the middle and a 57-62 reissue Fender in the neck. Also I added an LR Baggs piezo bridge. What do you think?? No Bias either, I tried a lot of american strats before it. Yes it is Daphne blue and it has aged marvelously. Everyone thinks that it is surf green though. It has a mahogany neck and hollow mahogany body with a Tomo Ash veneered maple cap. It is a little bit of a hot rod. It has the following modifications: Plek setup and fret dress by Gary Brawer, (luthier of the stars) DiMarzio PAF Classic bridge PU Bartolini PBF-49 neck PU Tone Pros locking bridge Replaced PU surrounds new electronics, including push pull coil tap. With all these mode, it is a wonderful guitar, which excels at bluesy 335 tones ala Carlton, and has a stellar bright jazz tone. Dillion's seem a lot like the Ibanez's were in the 70's and 80's, kind of the underog making great instruments for less money! I know a lot of gear-head friends who think that it has to be "american" to be a good strat, but I always spent my time practicing instead of worrying about the country of origin of my fender!! Funkle Username: Funkle Registered: 12-2001 Posted on Monday, May 16, 2005 - 11:34 am:    I gave the strat thing a try, but I just can't get used to the narrow neck on my '54 MIJ re-issue, and the crappy hardware, so it's eBay bound. My Starfield Altair is a way better strat than my strat SteveG, Dillions are great, but for me, they really need the fretwork done to come through. I've been tempted to get one of these . It's like a thinline tele but better. Craigjc Username: Craigjc Registered: 11-2002 Posted on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 - 7:29 am:    The pickups were originally angled more (you can see the holes) but the pole pieces didn't line up with the strings. Considering the amount of work I had to do to make it very playable, I decided that no modification was out of the question. I had to realign the tailpiece, replace the tuners, replace the headstock string guide, add string trees...this guitar as I received it was a mild nightmare. Action? Pretty good, but not as good as an '80s Ovation electric 12, if you've ever played one of those (like butter). Tone? How lucky I is. Got that definite Rickenbacker chime. The 3rd slider switch was something useless like a standby or a tone switch. I changed it to a phase switch and now have 4 different "chimey" tones. The only real thing I'd like it to have is 12 individual saddles to get the intonation absolutely perfect. Rickenbacker makes one, but it's pricey. Oh, and try to find a hardshell case for this wide-@$$ girl...LOL. Had the hide to sell Emporador and EKO and Gonzales gutiars(copys) well in Australia anyway, as the answer to the cheapy market..yes kids even back last century...this market was alive and well...to be truthfull...as a 2nd year apprentice in Screen Printing..I cleared $52.00 a week take home pay...so your argument is...? My Gonzales SG type 2 copy, had a great neck, but drop that copy Bigsby trem and you look like •••• on stage...that why I learnt at a very young age to put your playing career in Ibanez. Once my neck thru 2347WH, sealed me into a happy future in the Aussie Music mart...then I was laughing all the way to where I am today...and you say , but Cappy..where the girls, the big house's, the flash cars.....hmmmmm..its all B.S, your music is what you make of it and please .....whilst your a member here...truthfully...we do not survive on ego's alone ya know...we'll just rock how we want to rock ! Outcast are the product in your bedroom or your studio, that you feel don't float ya boat no more. When ya are over it, you will honestly have those quiet times when you you never did what you did,,,,,why cause it is part of your gutiar playing and collective part of your own personal history...and if anyone feels any different then I'lllaugh at you being chased down a 1 way alley by the cops..for crimes against those who don't share your beleifs....
