Anybody going to the Great American Guitar Show at Valley Forge Convention Center, King of Prussia, PA on July 22 or 23?

I'm going for Sat.

Frank:

Have you been before? The promoter said it was "huge".

Are you buying, selling or just "browsing"? Anything else go on? Artists playing, clinics, etc.?

I was there two years ago. In the world of guitar shows, I cannot tell you truly how huge it is as I have never been to another so I have none to compare it to. But to myself. it was pretty cool. Walk down the steps and behold, you see thousands of guitars. I am always looking for a great deal, other than that, I am just browsing. There were no artists or clinics that year BUT there were some nice guitars including a '58 Sunburst and tons of vintage strats and Firebirds. This year may be interesting as more Japanese guitars become semi-collectable. Also looking for Hamers.

See you there perhaps...

John,

I am going to this one as well with a few to offer and to see what the dealers have to offer and for how much.

I hope we run into each other so you can have a look at a few.

Mike and Frank:

It would be cool to meet up, if possible. But how will I know what you look like?

I know! Frank, you wear a bright purple polyester suit with a matching Fedora with ostrich feather in the brim.

Mike, you wear an evening gown. Something with lots of sequins. I'm sure I won't miss either of you then. J

If you want to know what I look like, see the thread called: "You and Your Axe - Photos" in this section. I'll definitely be there Sat. (trying to get there for 10am opening).

It was a pleasure meeting up with you at the guitar show saturday and seeing the AS400 in person. What a beautiful instrument!!

It is also nice to see Ibanez products starting to make their mark in the vintage market and being presented at the shows that are dominated by Gibson,Fender & Martins .

I must admit,That $100,000 Martin was something to behold.......

I'm very curious to find out if the Dark Scrugs sold the next day.

It was also nice to see Seth & his guitars make the trip with his pal.

I'm looking forward to the N.Y. show as well.

Sorry about not having my evening gown on,I just couldn't find a nice pair of shoes to match!

Mike:

The fun didn't start til I met up with you and then Seth. It's a shame that didn't happen til the last few hours of the day.

We were like 3 Ibanez flies on the back of the Gibson/Fender elephant. Standing in the parking lot, trading stories of the 20 or so Ibanezes we'd seen out of the thousands of "others".

Your purple Scruggs w/blocks was a VERY NICE piece. I woke up in the middle of the night asking myself why I didn't buy it! I went in the next morning but only to take a last look at the '78 Artist doubleneck. (My wife turned her nose up at it.) So, I don't know the fate of your purple LP eater.

Seth, (are you out there?) it was a blast to meet you and your buddy. Thanks for letting me look at your immaculate LR10...Now I know that I want one! J

I succumbed to the wiles of the "Martin-man-in-the-parking-lot" just as I was leaving. On Sat. I rode the elevator with him and he was toting around a '76 Martin D-35. Out in the parking lot my wife didn't turn her nose up at this one. Now it's mine! Bluegrass anyone? J

Mike and John,

The show was certainly awe-inspiring, but seeing the two of you in the lot made the day for me. It was nice to meet people who are as passionate about these guitars as I am. Mike, is there any info. about the NY show on-line yet? Congratulations on your new Martin, John. It may not be an Ibanez, but I've heard they're pretty decent guitars!

John & Seth

I had the feeling that we were the ones with the advantage of knowing how good these Ibanez products really are.

I'm sure that one day soon the snobs will be forced to face the fact that these guitars are something to not take so lightly.

Especially if they do some side by side comparisons.

John,I can't believe you were bitten in the stretch. I'm sure you will enjoy that tone for a while to come.
Could it be that I planted a seed when I talked about the Artist Acoustic with you?
I checked with the owner and he told me he would go bankrupt before letting it go....

Seth, My info says 16th annual NY Guitar Show will be Sept.16th & 17th at 440 East 12th St. N.Y.,N.Y. For more info contact Hoboken Guitars @ 908-595-9885 .

Valley Forge has another on November 18th & 19th.

Seth,I was very impressed with your Lee R.
Super condition !!

Play till you drop !!

Mike
