I just put a set of these slick tuners on my SA1260, and I recommend them to anyone who wants a great set of locking tuners that are a step up from the stockers. They are ergonomic and streamlined. There are no casting marks on the pegs. They feel great in the hand. And they have a 1:21 ratio, which makes tuning much easier. They retail for $135. They were $100 from http://www.universaljems.com/

Available in mini and full size, locking and non-locking. They require no modification when replacing the Gotohs used on most Ibanez' for the last 20+years with the offset screw hole (smooth tuners, magnums etc). I'd like to recommend universal jems as a source for aftermarket parts. Brian has the lowest prices around, and you can get anything from the Allparts catalog for a 25% discount!

I just scored a set! Here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7342728400&rd=1&sspagename= STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Nice to hear that they are even better than I thought they looked!

Life is good

Padraic, 8 pounds is pretty good for an $80 set of tuners. I just noticed these are standard equipment on the JMS100.

They are quite heavy. Could be my imagination, but there seemed to be an improvement in tone and sustain.

Wow Sven! I've done a bit more background research, and now appreciate that these are very good tuners indeed! I almost don't dare admit that these are intended for a project guitar, to replace the really nasty items currently in place. I see now that these tuners are standard on many VERY high end and boutique instruments (including Olson guitars amongst many others). I really did well with that impulse buy there!

Looking forward to fitting and trying these babies out.

" I almost don't dare admit that these are intended for a project guitar"

All the guitars in my collection are project guitars to some extent. The whole point is to make them better, right?

Well Sven they arrived this morning, and turned out to be an exact fit for my guitar, an explorer. Just dropped into the existing postholes; even the screw holes are in the right places! Definately made an improvement to the guitar!

Easy peasy to change and fit (20 mins altogether). They are indeed amazing tuners, smooth and very accurate with the gearing. Just wanted to add my voice to your recommendation. I'll keep an eye out for more of these!
