I guess Ginger is right. Sometimes neck pikcup is called front pu and bridge pickup rear pu. Hm, is then middle pickup always called mid pu? Juha |

I can't imagine there's any physical differences between the neck and bridge pups (other than what I will indicate below) so I doubt those explanations of the indications. Is there a physical difference between them? Other than...You can tell by the poles (position) which is which anyways. The neck pup poles are towards the top on neck pup. On the bridge pup, the poles are on (towards) the bottom. |

Single coils? Also neck, middle and bridge models. How do they smell? Explanation for humbuckers e.g. at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humbucker single coils e.g. at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_coil Juha |

Bobzilla, you are probably right. These old humbuckers have one standard spacing. The position and length of the lead might be different. And perhaps the number of windings on the coils perhaps (highest resistance in the bridge position). I have a pair of WSC pickups with Front and Rear spacing. Gibson does the same with their non-vintage humbuckers, which gives a better balanced sound. But, it was just a guess without seeing any pics. Ginger |

There is nothing to imagine nor anything that is probably something. There are two obvious purposes: 1. to compensate the different amplitude of the vibrating string at different points 2. to produce wanted tone quality regardless of previous (in this case neck (, middle) and bridge pickups may be similar) Juha |

Juha: "There is nothing to imagine nor anything that is probably something." I'm not sure how to interpret this sentence, but can I use it as a song lyric? |

John, OK, if you call it 'Early Morning Blues' (Late Evening Blues?). Foreign language at 2 AM may cause fuzzy expressions. Looks like a couple of words have disappeared. It could be a virus on Internet, too, not my fault |
