Hi: Anyone planning to go to the Classic American Guitar Show this May 5/6, 2007 on Long Island? Worth it to put together a group trip or at least a meet-up at the show? http://www.tcguitar.com/articles/cags.html |

I'm goin', I always go. There was another one that was scheduled for Feb. or March that got cancelled, but that was a different promoter. The one you are talking about in May is heavily heavily heavily geared towards those archtop acoustics/electrics and that 85% of it. Last year they had a Dragon Doubleneck they wanted (I think) $75,000 for? The same guys that publish 20th Century Guitar magazine put this show on in May every year. Do no expect to see one Ibanez. Not even one. I don't think I've ever seen one there. It's jazz guitars up the yin yang, and a few booths of "designer" luthiers with their axes, some of which are nice, some of which.... I have to wonder what the hell they were thinking when they designed the guitar. If you need a pup ring for your '57 Les Paul though, it will be at the show... lots of parts for sale... better bring the Brinks truck though... it's a very pricey show. Except for guitar strings, which you can load up on for $2 a set.... acoustic or electric. This show is in my neck of the woods, 10 mins. from home. |
