Hello and help please. I am trying to get some info on a 1970's era Carlo Robelli strat. I know the newer line of these guitars are made for Sam Ash supposedly by Ibanez but I can't find any info on the older ones, same deal? http://www.qksrv.net/click-1802666-10381315?loc=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI .dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D7357988906 |

Wildlefty, Ibanez doesn't actually manufacture guitars, they utilize various facilities all over the world. There a 3 or so big plants in Korea, and a few in China that build guitars for virtually every manufacturer. I'm not aware of Carlo Robelli being affilliated with Ibanez, but it is very likely that their guitars come out of one of the same plants. Carlo Robelli and other marketing companies often utilize an old or existing "old world" company name, just like Hoshino did with the Ibanez name back in the day. So the old Carlo Robelli probably bears little resenblance to the new one, other than the logo. -Sven |

Sven, Thank you so much for the input. Being a lefty I have to be very careful what I buy because the market is so tight. If I screw up and buy something that doesn't meet my expectations, chances are I am not going to be able to resell it very quickly. I don't know if you checked out the guitar in question via the link but the fact that the seller thought it was made by Ibanez was the sole reason I was interested in it. I've owned several old Ibanez guitars and the quality is outstanding compared to what is on the market today for lefties. Thanks again. Dan. |
