Big Mike sponsored the first ICW Pizza Jam at his No. Calif. home. OK, so it was only Big Mike and Guitar Tim hanging out, jammin' on Ibanez's and eating incredible home made pizza. But it was great!! Mike is an incredible cook and a very gracious host. Big let me sample his prototype 'Dumble Overdrive' stompbox and 'Trainwreck' pedals. Both are delicious tone busters! I'm leaning towards the Dumble, but the sustain and overtones out of the Trainwreck were also very tempting. For my contribution, I brought a '78 2630, '04 AR3000 and Gibson Johnny A. Signature guitars as party favors. They all sounded great through the pedals and Mike's customized Fender Deluxe. I sampled his early GB10 and gorgeous Yari Brazilian Rosewood accoustic (WOW!). And don't let me get started on his desserts! Man, that guy can throw down in the kitchen. Next time we'll have the No. Calif. ICW Jam at my place...IF Big Mike promises to show me how he makes those badass individual pizzas. |

Sorry, no pictures this time. But for sure next jam will be properly documented...for evidenciary purposes, of course. But do you really want to mess up this fine discussion board with photos of middle-aged Ibanezers with food on their smiling faces? :-) Mike was mostly busy preparing vittles...while I played with the git-fiddles and A/B'ing the cool stomp boxes. Plus we listened to some early spellbinding Benson music. We needed about another 3 to 4 hours, but the time spent was very cool indeed. |

Yeah I regret I was the one standing there watching TIM flame the neighborhood with the guitars he brought and didn't take ANY pictures. I have a TINY studio apartment, but I have this cool deck that overlooks the valley. I am down below street level so my deck is between 2 three story homes... SO there is a lovely natural reverb/echo going on there. He was using my 69 Silverface Deluxe Reverb (that I've had blackfaced) and the pedals... And most of the time I had the amp set down at pretty low volumes (3) in condideration of my neighbors, so he really couldn't tell how the pedals work THAT WELL... Now, as for food, well I made two individual sized pizzas - both with essentially the same toppings BUT the difference was the sauce - one was a spicy red based sauce, the other a spicy Alfredo based sauce.... So good... And for dessert I had made individual trifles. I took plastic drink cups and put cut up strawberries in the bottom, layered in some ladyfingers I soaked in Meyers Rum, then a dollop of fresh made pastry cream (you everyday guys think of it as a fancy homemade vanilla pudding), then more berries, soaked lady fingers and pastry cream. Then I topped it with a thick layer of whipped cream and grated some dark chocolate over it all... Extremely good... While he was here I had a big pot of ragu slow cooking in the oven (the ragu had italian sausage and veal shanks in it) by the time Tim got here the veal was just falling off da bones). I had my lovely neighbor over Friday night and we had salad, the ragu (on these papparadella pasta nests) and the trifles... we had 3 trifles each... LOL I include a shot of one of my creations: this a fresh fava bean, red bell pepper, pepperoni, red onion and black olive on 5 cheese... Funkle and any of you other locals, we'll have to get something going once I have weekends off again. You all take me grocery shopping and then stand clear... LOL |

Oh, that looks like a good one. Count me in next time. I make some pretty tasty pizza's myself, maybe a little cookoff? I could be getting myself into hot water, because I think you mentioned you went to chef school. -Sven |

Tim, Looks like the Super 400 will be here sooner than planned. I should have it no later than Thursday. Perhaps we should have a pizza party at your place this week, before I send my pedals back to Mikey for a paint job. Big |

Re: Inaugural No. Calif. ICW Pizza Jam To: Ibanez Collectors World Cool idea! With the description of the guitars and the food, I almost had to look away. It was just too good! How about someone organizing one of these in So. Cal? Love and Peace-- Scott |

Looks like we may have to start regional meetings. Anyone in the Cincinnati area??? Perhaps eventually a national meeting. We will put on our own NICW. We will make Hoshino come to us instead of NAMM!!!!!!!!! |

I'd encourage any of you guys who are within driving range of other ICW members to try a local jam or just sit around a talk (and Eat great food) about these cool guitars! Big, can't get together this weekend. Something about "honey-do's around the house that ain't getting done...!". But I can't wait to see that Super 400 in person. Photos were killer. |

Man this has been the wildest week - thank God it is my logical Friday tonight... I have the whole day tomorrow to do nothing but play... This is the nicest guitar I ever owned. By the way, I got in the new George Benson in Montreaux 1986 dvd yesterday. Most interesting gig, of course back then he sang a whole lot, but it is still an interesting show. He was using an Ibanez FG100 the whole gig, no GB10s or anything like that... It sounded pretty good for his Love X Love era stuff but it SEEMED hard for him to play this axe (compared to the ease he seems to have playing the GB10s, GB12s and GB100s). Worth buying... Not the ULTIMATE GIG but worth the money anyway... |

It's so unfair! Presently in the UK, I'm too far away to jam with you yanks and will be even further away when I get to Australia early next month. What about internet jamming? six |
