I'll be the first!! My newest addition is the V390 that I got off of ebay. Someone attempted to take the neck off, but I fixed the neck and binding. Sadly, my RT650 could not be here as my older brother was using it. Oh well, almost a complete shot.

I figure the total weight at about ~240 lbs. Now put 'em all back Les Pablo! PS - Just had to have that lefty in the back corner for political correctness, eh Pauly? ;O) |

The vine neck is a 2661. In black it is called a 2660. Eric, I am a lefty myself but learned to play on my fathers right handed LP's when I was a kid. Since I can afford them I have a couple of lefties as well. Looks cool, while gigging changing from right to left handed. The few people who notice stand flabbergasted! |

Shame ? were way past shame at this point ! Whats wrong with sharing ? Personally I think Lespauls collection is AWESOME ! I especially like the Korina V & the 1/2 Vine burst LP-VERY nice indeed. I didn't however forget the rest of my collection- the Concerts, Performers, Oldies, Korina twins, my new 2399,the 2618, 2619 & 2622 Artists, the AR 30, AR50 & AR100's, MC150, 300, 400 & 500; and -last but not least-the clone guitars-LP, Strats, Teles, etc-It may take some time to take pictures of them all-but I think its smart for posteritys sake. I also like to drool over other peoples collections....remember Robs "Forest of Vines" OH YEA !!!!!! |

Strings, I like them alot. No complaints at all. 3 different guitars, 3 different pups in 'em. So... it's a good scenario for me to judge one pup against the other. And... they all do have noticeable differences. The super 80's and the super 58's have more in commeon with each other than the 88's as far as sound goes. I think the 58's seem to have more power. But what they do have in common is... the 58's and the 80's really scream and they have more of a personality (for lack of a better term) than the 88's, and they have an overall "brighter" sound. I have a hard time describing sound with words sometimes... sorry. In any event .... the 80's pretty much kick butt IMHO. |

I was playing my '79 AR500 last night and I just could not get enough of the feel and striaght clean sound...I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!! There are so many slight changes that produce unique and wonderful tones! False harmonics and everything!! Bob, glad to hear you love the Super '80s...which is what is in the ARs mentioned above. |

I figure that Dave G spent at least 3 minutes to take each guitar out of its case: Now lets do simple math here and multiply that figure by 49 guitars shown in the pics, and we are already at around three hours! Now we add in Photography time and the time it took Dave to upload these fine shots for our viewing pleasure which had to take another 1.5 hours. Now knowing Dave, he probably has a dog at home or some fine four legged creature who was just thrilled that their favorite couch has become a Japanese Import exibit, and has now taken up space in one of the closets in the house with his head to the ground making pathetic wining noices. (PS) Now the question is: Did dave take that extra time out to keep the dog happy? Add another 30 minutes for finding the dog and we are at 5 hours! I figure he was probably running a little late because the wife would be getting home soon and now we have to go through all the steps listed above AGAIN just to put everything in its perspective case, OOPS, I hope we didn't mix up our guitar cases???? Folks we are at 10 hours! I think that Mr Bobzilla's question has been answered! After all Daves company is Innovation luggage! What an ingenious way of hiding guitars from the wife! PS. Dave, What happened to all the furniture?

Give me a ring at 301 274 0218 and we can all play hooky today and bang out some blues. I have some vintage Mesa boogies that can walk when they are turned up past 5. |

Ibanezcollector...There is no truth to the rumor that I hide my guitars inside luggage ! LOL Very funny comments Rob-suprisingly accurate too (My four legged friend is a 7 year old golden retirever)...I'm still pissed that you let the 2672 & and the Artfield go-but I've been assured that they both have landed with folks that will appreciate them. My only concern is that after Jeff gets done rifiling thru your collection, what gonna be left for me? I wold have made a run on that 2672 if I didn't just score that cool 2399 last week >>>>>I'll call ya tonite to chat and compare notes....By the way, you forgot to mention that any purchases made on the Innovation website via the ICW link generates $ to help John offset his bandwith bills. |

When I found out that Robert had left Florida and was staying in Maryland, the four hour drive to visit him and see some of the rarest vintage Ibanez guitars, seemed more than reasonable. Here's a group shot of what I saw and played when I visited Robert: Although it was a great priviledge, it's also sad to think that these siblings have been split up. Kudos to Robert for his dedication and persistence in gathering one of the best collections of vintage Ibanez guitars, this side of the factories of Japan that created these beauties! Here's a picture of Robert giving me a guitar lesson. Hey Robert, what was the name of that Molly Hatchet song?

Hello Jeff, I enjoyed your visit very much and I hope we can get together and do some playing. All of us here can try and coordinate some kind of get together. I still am leaning toward the Key West thing because of the weather (When the Hurricane season ends!) I'm right across from the beach and minutes away from Duval Street. You guys would have a blast. There's room for 8 people. Thanks again for driving down and give me a call if you can possibly do this. It doesn't have to be right away. PS. I will be speaking with Tim Gibson at 1pm today about the work I need done on Neckthru Twin. This mans Certifications as a guitar luthier are amazing! PS. I contacted the individual in California about the possible 2674 and 2675 guitars in his collection. They turned out to be 2405's |

Hello John, I sent you email yesterday and hope you got it. Thanks for the compliments. It is difficult to let these go, but I still have my keeper collection with the Neckthru Artwood Twin and the other models you saw in the music room. The Song you are reffering to, was a remake of Dreams I'll never see which was done by the allman brothers. It is a very cool tune. I do like the touch that Molly Hatchet added to it! I don't know that I gave you a guitar lesson? Your to modest! I won't mention to the board that you covered all of Pink Floyds music in one sitting! Sounded fantastic John! Bravo! I enjoyed meeting you and your wife and hope alot of the players and collectors here at Icw can actually get together. 1 day isn't enough time to squeeze in conversation and playing! Thanks. Yeah, I love the 8 string too. Believe it or not, I find it to be balanced perfectly. You'd think it would be top heavy but it's not. Very comfortable to play and not much heavier than my beastly AR500s. I've also found that it has one the most 'musical' EQs of all the EQ guitars I have. The system really accentuates the natural tone of the instrument. |

BZilla: Actually, I got them off ebay over the period of about 6 months. First I got the bridge one, then waited for a long time before a black arched neck surround came up (that I didn't get oubid on!). Two was tough enough to find; six might be a tall order to fill. I tried them on the AV and didn't like them as much as on the CS. For what it's worth, I think both your 1200 and 2622 look AWESOME with the cream surrounds. Both pieces look really clean... |

Funkle, I really like the rt650, i have had it for about 6 years, (I let my brother use it for a couple of those) I really like the tone, and I initially bought it so I would not have to gig with the more pricey ones. Very Steve Vai, I really like the coil tap for the country stuff. The strat is actually sonic blue, and has really turned a greenish color, everyone thinks that it is sea foam green, but on the spots where I have worn through the finish, you can see the color. I got that guitar for my high school graduation in 1994, and it is an 1987 Japanese 60's reissue. Still the best playing and sounding Fender I have ever played. Bar None. It has a George Lynch Lil' Screamin Demon in the bridge, a Duncan ssl-1 in the middle, and a fender 57-62 reissue in the neck. I also installed the Baggs X-bridge with piezo and the blender. I rarely use the guitar live anymore, as my tone preference has changed over the years. John, I bought this because I could not find nor afford an s5040. But it is pretty much the same guitar minus the super detailed inlays. The S2540 has reminded me why I sold my Hamer chapparal with the floyd rose. THESE THINGS ARE A PAIN!!! But the quantums are nice pickups. the body is beautiful. The guy that owned it before me must have used a rock as a pick because when I got it, it had pick scratches so deep you could dig your fingernails in. I buffed those out and the guitar looks great. The neck is SO thin compared to my sc's, which I gig with mainly. I am going to keep it though, once I figure out the floyd rose again, I will start using at shows. Thanks for the interest. P.S. I can not believe how good the 2350 sounds and plays, what kind of pickups are in it?? |

Cmangeot: Thanks for the info about the S2540. But I have to make a retraction. I mistook it for the much rarer S5040. Sorry if I confused anyone else. |

Hi Guitartim, I know it is criminal not to play the GB12, but I mostly use the AR30, not the most expensive, not the best looking but definately the best sounding of the lot. I'm not sure if the Bridge PU is original, but I'm sure one of you boys would know????http://www.ibanezregister.com/Gallery/artstar-artist/gal-ar30.htm |

Just got a new Explorer....fantastic guitar ! Completes the "Trio". The "V" is a '77, the other two are pre-serial number. Cool vintage vibe ! I really like the Explorer...its a pleasure to play and just drips '80's metal (Skynyard too !)

Very cool Dave! I wouldn't mind having an explorer. Got a few V's and they rock! No way I'd have one of those butt ugly modernes in my house though. No go and play some Metallica or Killers on that explorer. Paul |

Dave, Artimus Pyle (Skynyrd's drummer) is a pal 'o mine. Well, he's been over my house and I gave his son River a silver dollar as a lucky coin. He and I just hung out, listened to and discussed music etc. etc. and I had him down to Harley to meet alot of folks who wanted to say hello to him. He says... get the "a" out. I was supposed to be guitar tech for the show Artimus' band just did on the "Intrepid" this past weekend (I think that's the name of that big ship docked here in NY) but... Something came up and I couldn't make it. Next day was Skynyrd's R&R Hall of Fame induction. And Dave... just kidding about the "a". Did you know that Artimus was shot by a farmer after the plane crash? Farmer thought Artimus was a lunatic or something, on his property, so he shot him. He was not a lunatic, just a bit haggered/bloody looking from the crash. He somehow made it to this farm, looking for help, and got shot.... on top of the crash. Very very bad day. Artimus is one of the nicest folks you could ever hope to meet. |

Hi Bobzilla, I've had this guitar for about 4 years. And there is a story to it. One day I saw an ad on a Dutch Internet site with a small dark blurry picture. I could however just make out that it was an AR5000. So, quite nervous, I called he seller and we came to an agreement. The next day I drove to Holland (about 4 hours!) and indeed there it was and in very good shape. I had just handed over the money when his phone rang and ... oh no ... another buyer! I probably turned all yellow but lucky for me, the seller calmly answered that he had just sold the guitar. Fair of him. It's not easy to say how it compares to my other guitars, as they are all quite different. It's certainly the most versatile in terms of sounds. A bit more flexible than the 2622 because of the coil splitters that give a really good single coil sound. Not a real Strat sound but it certainly holds it's own. The active circuit gives less of a boost than the 2622, but that's probably due to the type of opamp. It's great to drive a tube amp. The neck is the slimmest of all my guitars, followed by the AS50 and then the acoustic. The 2622 is quite a handful and the 2617 is really chunky. As for the construction and finish of the AR5000, it is impeccable. Just that little bit better... It does weigh more because of the thicker body (like all post '80 ARs) and the inlays take some time to get used to when playing. I can try to post some detailed pictures later if anyone is interested (though most will know by now how an AR5000 looks like). PS I'd rather not comment on the price. Let's just say I got a good deal. PS 2 Anybody in his right mind would probably say "hey, it's just a nice guitar" |

Jcmc64: To add a few details to Bobzilla's instruction, here's the exact line you need, just cut and paste it into your new message: \image{Text_Description} Change the Description to whatever will help you remember the image you wanted to post. However, you can't use spaces in the Text Description or it will error. (That's why I added the underscore.) Also, make sure that your image files are 50k or less and they are JPEG or Gif format. There are instructions at the following: http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/FAQMain.html You can use the Account Holders Test Area section to experiment until you get it down pat. |

Haenobu: That's simply wild! AM205s must be pretty rare in Japan? Are any of these labeled as Super Edition? It's a common question if there are any real differences between a "regular" AM205 and the "Super Edition". Some say yes, others no. |

It's a common question if there are any real differences between a "regular" AM205 and the "Super Edition". Some say yes, others no. As far as I know, AM205s made in (later than) 1985 have "SUPER EDITION" inlay like other ARTIST models, and I don't think there's no difference. |

To add a few things. The owner of the AM205s wrote me that the later version (with "SUPER EDITION" on the 21st fret) were made 1985-1987, and that they have "ebony" nut, by which I don't know whether it is ebony as a kind of wood, or "black carbon" nut. |

Well ebony is a very hard wood and even though I've personally never seen one, it's certainly possible to use as a "nut" material. I've inlaid violins with ebony nuts. Look at the nut in person if you can, you should see a tight grain pattern if it's ebony..smooth if its carbon. |

The MC200 I bought as a gigging guitar as is had a few dings on the back and lower bout, imagine my surprise when I saw the grain on this baby close up, it looks amazing to me! The jack has been cracked and some moron glued a piece of leather over the area with an adhesive i have never run into, but I repaired it and reshot the area with clear. The adhesive ate through the original clear down to the wood so though it is not a perfect match, but it is smooth and level and shiny again, and I do not have to worry about cracking again. This is my first set of super 88's, they are BRIGHT!!! Still looking for input on the pickups for my tele parts-caster project, so far I am leaning towards the dimarzio virtual t's. |

Emilio - You have a couple transitional (79/80) model AR300s there ... I notice the one has the combo of Quick Change II tail with Super80's ... are those the stock parts that came with that axe? Echo Bob...very nice indeed - LOVE late model Smooth Heel Is!! |

Strings, they are all original, and I belive the AR300 from february 1980 may be one of the first AR300's made, see Hasenobu's page, they are in chronological order.Does anyone owns a earlier AR300? And she is mint, 10 condition, not a scratch and the plating(golding?)is 10 also, I consider her one of my jewels..... cheers emlio |

The earliest official mentioning of the AR model names I've seen so far was in a catalog which was printed in August 1979. Then there was a pretty long transitional period until about June 1980 when the Super58s were introduced and the specifications changed (Body thickness / Smooth Heel). The earliest AR I know of, an AR100, was made in August as well. I own a AR300 that was made in September '79 but mine isn't in that nice shape, though. Juergen |

Emilio, Yogi is right-the AR solid body line was introduced in 79 with little or no change from the 2619 to the AR300. I'll bet your non-angled tailpiece axe is older (79?) than the QC-II tail (80?) - both transitional and both limited editions in their own right!! Yogi, I think now we've witnessed the first change within the AR300 line...and, there were never 58 pups added to the Smoothheel I body types. Only after they went with the stocky/thicker/shorter body did they begin installing 58s. No? |

Strings: Yes, that's what I meant: The Super58s were only installed in the thicker Artists. As far as I know there is no difference between a '79 2619 and an '79 AR300. In early 1980 the GIBRALTAR tailpiece with the slanted slots was introduced, that's the only difference I know of before the big changes came up in mid 1980. Juergen |

Mike, the two on the left you can view better in the "miscellaneous" thread here on ICW. There's a complete explanation there. The flower axe has 100% Gibby LP guts in it from the pups to the input jack and it's heavy too. It rips. Photo I just posted here sux, I think better photos in the other thread. Dave... that is the "Special" axe you gave me back there on the couch. I will post a better shot. I don't have a camera and I always have to borrow one, but I will. Thanx again. |

Back (left to right): 1969 Epiphone "Texan" 6 string acoustic., 2005 Alvarez AJ60/12 Jumbo 12 string acoustic, 2006 Ibanez ew20asent 6 string acoustic/electric, The black electric axe is the "Bob Delia Special" that Dave G. gave me when I bought the ar5000. Nice axe for sure. Front row (left to right): Vietnamese Ibanez design copy 6 string electric I call it the "scroll" axe. It's stock except for bone nut I had installed, next is another Vietnames 6 string electric. This axe which I call the "flower" axe has Gibson Les Paul guts, complete Gibby LP guts from the burstbucker pups right down to the input jack and all wiring and components in between. The guitar rips., 1981 Ibanez ar5000LE (I still can't believe it's mine), 1975(?) pre-serial # Ibanez vined model 2671 (Satan's Guitar), 1983 Ibanez ar1200av 12 over 6 string electric guitar, 2005 BC Rich "Bich" 6 string electric (neck-thru, ebony board, cloud inlays.) You can see better shots of the Vietnames axes here on ICW in "miscellaneous" thread under "Check out this Ibanez inspired copy" (I think that's the thread.) They look black here, but they are really what Dave and I were calling "root beer" colored. Pretty neat color. Both have flamed tops too which ain't coming across in the photos. The flower axe weighs about 3 lbs. more than the scroll axe. I had them in the shop for a month, working on the necks/frets, they are now MINT and real players. The flower axe more than the scroll axe. Dave and I each have the scroll guitar, matching bookends, to some extent although Dave put some effort into his, I just had the bone nut done on mine and I had the bone nut installed on the flower axe as well. |

Wow, there's some unbelievable collections here! Although these two probably don't add up to a collection, they do constitute a group. '81 AR1200 and my new '78 2619 (only had it 4 days so I'm still acting like a little kid). I laid down some tracks this weekend with the 2619... what an absolute dream to play and record with! So the bug's got me now... I think I need a 2617 and an AM255 to start... I can tell my wife this is as good as life insurance, right? |

Thanks guys, The room's a long time project that got completed about three years ago... M-Audio BX-8s (wish they were NS10s), a Yamaha Motif Classic 7, Tascam FW-1884 w/ FE-8 expander and all the rack mount gear loaded into an Argosy Dual 15KS console. The blue light in the lower right is coming from the clear acryllic tower housing the powerhouse PC I built to do all the work. Everything (Sonar and various VSTi's) is MIDI synced including patch change messages sent to the Vetta II amp, so it's virtually a one-man studio/band setup, all I have to do is play along! I'm a huge Rush fan (and Triumph... good 'ol Canadian rock trios). I'll have to say the two Ibanez get the most playing time by far. The 2619 is a nice addition because I kept picking up that doubleneck every time I got in the studio and the neck, shoulders and back kept complaining! |

Hey Strings, Is this what's referred to as a "transition year" model. I'd guess an AR500. Is this a smooth heel/thinner body as opposed to say an '81 AR500? How's the EQ to use as compared to a straight Tri-sound setup on the AR300? Nice looking Guitar! |

2112...yup, yup and yup! Great flexibilty with eq>in using the tri-sounds...best when used in p-up selctor>middle position and one of the p-ups in standard series mode. Very glassy, very acoustic-y. I think the Ibanez EQ was made for the Super80. It was strange when I got it as everything on the finish was mint - virtually not a ding on it...but the binding on the neck had two areas crumbling. So, I just had the whole thing re-done. The last few days it's been...eq>out, master tone>,5 neck p-up only...increadible, round PAF-like. I have not put it down much since it's been home. It's like 'butta! Micheal, As you know, I deserve too drool as this one has been at the luthier for 9+ months - complete retro-fit new neck binding and incidental refret (as it would be dumb to put the old ones back.) He did an awesome job on the color match to the body vintage aged cream/yellow with brass dowls for binging markers - he did 5 samples and nailed on the fifith attempt. Plays like butter. I could not put it down for over three hours today. I plan to take some beauty shots of the rest outdoors soon...here's a couple more till then.
