hi, bought this one in ebay. could this be an ibanez? this is what I can tell you: - it is neck thru - string thru - no serial-no. - used to have active-pus (battery-cavity on back like one ST 200 that I have seen) - 2 mighty-mite pus (original?) - bridge and nut are made out of heavy brass - never seen mechanics - dot-inlays that I have never seen on any brand - 1-ply tortoise shell truss-rod cover - 2-ply pickguard - old small black potties - 3-way toggle - no marks or signs in the cavities or at the end of the neck it seems that the name of ibanez was written (or scratched) on the headstock, but this could be a fake. so pleas have a close look at the photos. any help appreciated. greets maggy

Hi Stationc, I doubt this is Ibanez. Nonetheless, you have something very unusual. six |

tks six, what makes me wonder is, that it is made of very good quality (brass nut and brass bridge, shaped body, active-pus) but got low end mechanics and truss rod cover, cos I do not think that it is original tortoise-shell....(but who knows..) anyone else got an idea what this could be??? maggy |

Stationc, are you from Europe? The reason why I am asking is: do those pots have any markings? Eg. "Radiohm"... Pickups have "Mighty Mite USA" stamped on the bottom plate? Intriguing problem.... |

yes fox, from the heart of europe! frankfurt surrounding in germany. yeah, the tonepots have a stamp that says RADIOHM, a number 77 (a 3 on the other one) and 220KB or MB, the volumepots are stamped with M7. there are two small green kondensators (or so) between the vol.- and tonepot each, that says MKT1813, 250V-M2, 0,22uF. yes, the pus are stamped with Mighty Mite, but not USA but MFG. (what does that means) in german its a short form for -with kind regards- lol. you know that mistry thing? |

I found out that radiohm is a german company not far from my home. so probably it could be a german brand or german luthier!???! |

Stationc, Radiohm pots were readily available, and used in eg. hobby electronics and of course radio manufacturing..Telefunken, Grundig, you name it.. The point is, that japanese folks never used European bits & pieces, and those tuning machines are also from Europe, I believe so. EKO or the like. I did not remember the bottom stamp of old Mighty Mites, MFG IN USA means manufactured in U.S. of A. Those pickups were standard replacement stuff in the 80s, and quite good, actually. The company sold also lots of "tuning parts" for F-guitars..bodies and necks.. My guess is, that this guitar in question is a one-off, built by someone.. be it a professional or a good hobbyist. |

hi fox, that is what I thought so. what makes me wonder is, that the dot-markers, one big dot and two small ones left and right to the big one in the same fret, should be known by anyone, cos I have never seen em before (but that doesnt mean too much... lol). still dont know if it is a good player. it wasnt in a good condition when it came to me and the first thing I did was cleaning and polishing it. than I saw, that the active electronic has to be connected again, maybe with different pus, but I want it as originally as possible. |
